16.01.2022 Last Friday was the debut shift for my new truck and chipper.. what a beast! Getting a truck and chipper has been on my mind for a long time and it’s a dream come true and finally it’s all come together after lots and lots of work. The chipper is huge and eats full trees and large chunks of wood which makes work very quick and efficient. It was a solid removal for a two man crew, multi stemmed Corymbia maculata, most of the tree had to be lowered out, all growing over the ho...use and garden but we done it in 8 hours easy peasy. Greeny climbed this one and smashed it out!! I rigged for him and chipped with my new toy, I was bloody nervous, first day with my own chipper.. thank you brother for climbing, solid effort ! Myself and Greeny work together very regularly and we love it, Greeny is also self employed in the tree industry and is a great Arborist and always a pleasure to work with, we contract to each other lots and I couldn’t be more grateful to have him work for me on some jobs, we work well together and have a good time always! Never a dull moment in a epic industry like this. It’s great to have a second arborist on site, a lot more efficient, easier on the body, two can climb at once, always more enjoyable to share climbs and most importantly for safety reasons, aerial rescue. Onwards n upwards

06.01.2022 Good afternoon. I’m very proud to present to you Highlander Tree Services. I’m a certified arborist from Scotland who loves trees and have been contract climbing for 7 tree companies around the South West Region over the years. I feel like I have finally served my time down here as as an arborist and now looking to push my own work. It’s been a privilege working for all these companies and in incredible locations like the Tree Top Walk, Valley of the Giants, Karri Valley Res...ort etc etc, I’ve pruned some massive and epic trees over the years and I’m very grateful to still be working and live in this beautiful area. Enough of the life story, I want to continue to promote and carry out good tree work, proper pruning and reductions and safe climbing practices around Margaret River and to keep working amongst the great bunch of passionate crew in the industry down here! Thanks for your time Jake Higgins

06.01.2022 Last week I cleared a number of trees for a new house proposal for my friend Mark on a beautiful bush block in Cowaramup. I met Mark in the surf many years ago, we regularly see each other in the water.. Lots of epic trees we managed to retain and prune before the building takes place, the benefit of using an arborist to fell and remove trees is that we can climb and dismantle trees without damaging the surrounding native trees and bush. Large machinery can cause a negative impact on trees especially when driving over the root plate. I love walking through the site with the client before hand and talking about the trees, which ones we should keep and which ones should go. Thanks again for having me Mark, always a pleasure
