17.01.2022 Summer Garden Evening Cancelled for March 14th. With regret, based on updated medical advice received, related to the weather-induced need to hold the gathering indoors (and therefore in close proximity), the Committee has had to call off the Saturday night event at the Berry's home. This was reluctantly decided in the interests of the health and well-being of members. Email messages and phone calls to all booked persons have been made, but there will be no party on Saturday night, unfortunately. We deeply apologize for short notice. Everyone will be aware the Australian playing field is changing almost hourly.

14.01.2022 HGSB Summer Garden Evening Postponed! Due to the continuing wet weather the Highlands Garden Society Summer Garden Evening set for this Saturday has been POSTPONED. We would not want to damage the Berrys’ beautiful lawn. The NEW DATE is SATURDAY 14th MARCH and the NEW TIME is 4pm to 6pm. Those members who have paid for their attendance will be first on the list for the Summer Garden Evening on 14th March... It is recognised that the new date is not the traditional third Saturday, however, as you may be aware Saturday 21st March is the 50th Anniversary of the Bundanoon Garden Club. We want to give our members the opportunity to attend and support our fellow garden organisation.

13.01.2022 1. Members will have received an email or a letter by post this week concerning regular meetings and special events in the current COVID-19 (Coronavirus) environment. Changes to protocols of how we meet and improved precautions are being introduced with immediate effect to ensure the safest means of people continuing to meet. This follows government and Health Authority guidelines. If attending a HGSB meeting please ensure you use the provided hand sanitizer on arrival befor...e using pens, handing over cash etc.. This applies to this coming Saturday afternoon's weather-delayed Summer Garden Evening at 4.00pm. 2. A really useful daily update and Q&A is provided by ABC Podcasts, including the excellent Dr. Norman Swan. Lasting typically just 10 minutes the podcast answers the most frequently asked questions. A new episode is posted each morning, so it gives you the latest and best practical guidance. https://www.abc.net.au/radio/programs/coronacast/. The Management Committee of the Highlands Garden Society is committed to your safety. If circumstances or medical advice changes, we will let you know. It might be at very short notice, such is the nature of the epidemic. In the meantime continue to enjoy Friendship Through Gardens. THE 6 KEY THINGS WE'D LIKE YOU TO REMEMBER, RELATED TO CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) & FLU 1. If you are feeling unwell, please don't attend a meeting. Call your medical practitioner by phone for advice. 2. On arrival please rub your hands with the hand sanitizer provided. Don't touch your face. Don't shake hands or embrace. 3. Please wash your hands or reapply the sanitizer before & after putting out/stacking chairs or tables. 4. If you must cough please use a handkerchief, or your elbow, away from others. 5. Continue to bring your own cups for monthly meetings. 6. If preparing or serving food, wipe all preparation surfaces with kitchen disinfectant and wash hands.

07.01.2022 For those confined to their homes we thought you might like to share in a trial of a new photo technique. This glorious Jude The Obscure (David Austin) set of blooms was captured at three different focus points. Then, using the magic of computers and a program called Helicon Focus it amazingly merges the three files together, only using the sharp bits, leaving the background nice and blurry.. As a photographer I have been frustrated by how slow my long-standing standard photo... processing software, Adobe Photoshop does this, and usually it just freezes and crashes. So here's the very first trial photo to brighten up what has now become a rainy afternoon. I should have used 8 or 10 pictures, but I wanted to see what it could do quickly. I hope you agree? If you have a photo of something in your garden, please share it here. You can't say you haven't got the time! See more
