25.01.2022 I work with a number of people who have cut off parents, or are considering doing so. Sometimes the stories are about abuse that begins in childhood and continues into adulthood. It’s impossible to know the details from a brief story in an article. If you are in this situation, the one who has been cut off, you may not understand, or even remember, how things got to this point. The main gist of the article is that you need to accept that there are 2 versions of the story and that both are true - to you and your child. Thanks to Luminous Life for sharing the article

22.01.2022 This is a beautiful exercise to help you ground yourself, can be used anytime but just before bed with a herbal tea is great
21.01.2022 If we treated emotional pain the same as physical pain, how would your life be different?
20.01.2022 Too much time for thinking, asking questions that have no answer? When I’m home from holidays we can talk about it
17.01.2022 My window display, finished with a few days to spare. Wishing all who celebrate a wonderful Christmas, a happy Chanukah (finished last Friday), and a happy new year. #windowdisplay #highlandsholistic #southernhighlands #christmaswindow #mentalhealth #arttherapy #holidays
17.01.2022 Reframing difficult experiences gives you a whole different perspective. It doesn’t mean the pain has gone but it can change your focus to what’s ahead.
16.01.2022 When we experience fear inducing events, it can feel like there’s nothing we can do to cause change. But some people are finding success in humour. From funny signs held up to oppose the cruel signs of anti-choice and anti-LGBQTI+ signs, to poking fun at racists by dressing in silly costumes. These actions aren’t going to make people hate you but laugh with you.
13.01.2022 A story about finding a way to travel through grief via knitting and company. Woodcarving helped my through my friends death and continues to help me through the grief. It’s a heartbreaking but so many of us have heartbreaking stories that we can’t put behind us
05.01.2022 I’ve had most of my Christmas window display ready for weeks, but since I did such a messy paint job I never got around to putting it up. Until today. Well I tried. I’ve glued the buildings to a piece of wood, then my husband dropped off the puppy while he went to the gym. That started the puppy fiasco. My youngest son and I made a background (inspired by Starry Night), we got the buildings up, kept messing about with positioning the painting, puppy kept getting in the way, ...we dropped the buildings, forgot the lights, puppy got in the way, we dropped the buildings again, broke a sail, couldn’t get it glued, gave up, stuck up the paper and left. The buildings are re-glued and drying again. Hopefully I will get it set up by Christmas
05.01.2022 Christmas isn’t always a time of celebration, and we know many don’t celebrate it at all. Others don’t have anyone to celebrate with. Many support services (including mine) are shut down for several weeks at a time. These organisations will continue to offer 24 hour phone support and counselling for those needing assistance over this period: Mental Health Line - 1800 011 511 Lifeline - 13 11 14 beyondblue - 1300 22 4636... *image from My Lonely Christmas in Berlin Facebook page
04.01.2022 Do you ever do a self check-in? If you’re just feeling ugh and don’t know why, or find that your thoughts have become negative, it’s a good practice.
02.01.2022 This is a great article on how to be a better ally
