25.01.2022 Tip 10 for coping with COVID-19 Keep looking forward Remember the famous saying this too shall pass. It may not feel like it, but things will return to normal. It is important to have confidence that things will improve, that people will recover and things will get back to normal. If you need help please reach out to mindspot.org.au, or lifeline.org.au #highperformancephysiotherapy #care #psychology #covid19
25.01.2022 We have had a spike in posture-related injuries due to poor work place set-ups at home. If you havent seen our previous posts, have a look to correct your makeshift home office space. If you are using a laptop, have the screen at eye level and use a separate USB or bluetooth keyboard. We have remained OPEN and are following strict Government guidelines on infection control. Remember, I bet you dont think twice about going to the supermarket when you need to. Our clinic would be a more sterile environment! #highperformancephysiotherapy @highperformancephysiotherapy #neckpain #backpain

24.01.2022 Do you know what this is? The seat wedge helps rotate your pelvis forward so you sit on the "boney bits" (ischial tuberosities) of your bum. We have these in stock to help you maintain a sitting position that shares the load through your spine whilst your working. A very under estimated product. #highperformancephysiotherapy #backpain #treatment #pain #physiotherapy #sportsphysiotherapy #physicaltherapy #today #
23.01.2022 Tip 4 for coping with COVID-19 Balance your thoughts When we get stressed about our health or risk of infection our thoughts can become dark, brooding and pessimistic. Thoughts like, How will I cope if I get sick? can be triggered by stress but they dont help us. Negative or dark thoughts will stop you doing things that can help. Remember, our thoughts are not always true or helpful. Whenever you recognise a negative thought balance it with a realistic thought. # highperformancephysiotherapy #care #health #covid19 #psychology
22.01.2022 Psychological tips for coping with Coronavirus (COVID-19) Follow our 10 tips with thanks to mindspot.org.au @highperformancephysiotherapy not only looks after our patients physically, their mental wellbeing is just as important. Have a read of our upcoming series of posts to help cope with COVID-19. Tip 1 for coping with COVID-19... Get informed with the right information We are hard wired to react to possible threats to our families, our communities and ourselves. These reactions can keep us safe from possible threats. Relying on news from mainstream media or social media may sensationalise or exaggerate issues and can further increase stress and anxiety. Consider only accessing trusted sources of information. (e.g. Australian Government Department of Health Website, NSW Health website) #highperformancephysiotherapy #mentalhealth #psychology #covid19 See more
21.01.2022 Tip 3 for coping with COVID-19 Get organised A good antidote to stress and worry is to get active and organised. If you are worried about something, then do something. Make plans and write your list of what you need to but, organise, or set up and get on with doing it. Remember that family and friends are also likely to be stressed and might need help getting organised. #highperformancephysiotherapy #care #covid19 #psychology #health #organisation

18.01.2022 part 2 of 2. So what are the implications? Communication and more importantly the clinicians should understand what they are doing. Next time you receive a manipulation why dont you ask your clinician what the cracking is and see how updated their knowledge is.... #evidence #highperformancephysiotherapy #physio #physiotherapy #sportsphysio #physicaltherapy
18.01.2022 Tip 8 for coping with COVID-19 Stay engaged Another key strategy for keeping good mental wellbeing is to stay connected and engaged with people and activities that are meaningful. Reflect on what these are for you and schedule time in your routine to keep doing them. You might have to modify how you stay connected, for example using Skype or Zoom instead of face-to-face contact. Remember that people really appreciate engaging with others, even if this hasnt been planned. #highperformancephysiotherapy #psychology #care #covid19

16.01.2022 Tip 5 for coping with COVID-19 Shut down the noise Stress is infectious, and often unhelpful. People tend to talk about things they are worried about; this creates lots of noise, which can create even more stress. Give yourself permission to switch off noise such as social media and news. Also keep away from people who create this stress. Instead replace it with using reliable news sources, or include things you enjoy, listening to music, games or even meditation. #highperformancephysiotherapy #care #psychology #covid19 #health
14.01.2022 PUBLIC NOTICE: Today we noticed (as the Daily Telegraph reported today), a Physiotherapist in another clinic at Blaxland Rd Ryde has been charged with a serious offence. We have written this post to make it clear that our clinic is NOT involved. Whilst we are in Ryde, our location is not near this other clinic.... Our clinic has been operating for over 20 years and continues to provide the highest professional standard to the local community.
14.01.2022 Here is a great story from the abc about how a well structured Physiotherapy exercise program is very effective for back pain. Not everyone can prescribe a well rounded exercise program. Physiotherapy stands out because we have a very deep understanding of anatomy and pathology of injuries unlike other professions who claim to be exercise specialists. #higherformancephysiotherapy #backpain @highperformancephysiotherapy #rehab #exercise

12.01.2022 Tip 2 for coping with COVID-19 Understand history Events like infectious diseases often follow a predictable course. In the past 50 years there have been multiple national and international events such as SARS, Ebola, HIV and measles to name a few. Initially, there is often scepticism, followed by attention, panic, then and reality. Finally it is followed by a return to normality. Stock markets and supermarket shelves are good indicators of where we are in the course. Reminding yourself of these patterns can help you to understand the course and plan for the future. #highperformancephysiotherapy #history #covid19 #infection #care #psychology #health #mentalhealth
12.01.2022 Tip 7 for coping with COVID-19 Keep healthy routines We all have routines in our daily lives. Major events naturally create changes in routines; particularly if we cant do some of our usual activities. We know that our emotional health is strongly affected by regular routines; these routines not only help to get us organised, but also gives us a sense of achievements and accomplishment. Think about your normal routines and ensure you keep them up. #highperformancephysiotherapy #psychology #covid19 #care

09.01.2022 Tip 9 for coping with COVID-19 Do the things that you enjoy and that are good for you. When stressed we tend to avoid doing things that we normally do, including things which are good for our mental health. We all have activities and hobbies that we enjoy and which give us pleasure. It is important that we make time and effort to do things that we find valuable, meaningful and fun. Making a plan to do fun things regularly will give you something to look forward to. #highperformancephysiotherapy #covid19 #care #psychology

06.01.2022 What else is happening during the Corona virus pandemic? Our clinic is still OPEN! We have noticed a change in the types of injuries we are seeing now that many workers are working from home. Keep your eye out as we start to discuss these injuries in our future posts. An increase in knee pain from running has been a big one. ... Many office athletes have been complaining of Patella-Femoral Knee Pain (PFKP), a pain generally around the front of the knee and hard to pin point. It usually comes on after a few minutes and increases with increased load, for example running down hills. Patients usually notice up and/or downstairs also brings the pain on. The cause usually occurs due to a lack of strength leading to biomechanical issues. Also a sudden increase in physical activity with insufficient rest between exercise activities. It is an easy fix when you know how. Call the clinic to make an appointment and we can show you how. 98077288 Our clinic follows the strict Dept. of Health guidelines for COVID-19. Everyone in our clinic has undertaken the infection control training for COVID-19. Remember our clinic will be more sterile than a supermarket! See more

05.01.2022 Tip 6 for coping with COVID-19 Remember who you are Most people are good, kind and sensible. They care for others and want to make the world a better place. These reflect important values. Stressful times can make it challenging to act in the way that is aligned with our values. Remember to be respectful to yourself and others. Reaching out and supporting others will not only be helping them, but also doing something will help you feel good about yourself. #highperformancephysiotherapy #covid19 #health #psychology #care
