21.01.2022 Please Do Not Let Your Baby Go To Sleep With A Milk Bottle The photos below show the devastating consequences of allowing this habit go unchecked. Breastfeeding to sleep can also have similar effects. Known as baby bottle caries or early childhood caries, this condition is highly preventable. Some measures you can take would be ensuring baby gets her teeth brushed or wiped clean after milk or, at the very least, drink some plain water to rinse the milk away. Keep a keen e...ye out for white spots or yellow/brown spots on the teeth which can indicate early decay. Baby teeth are essential for eating, speech development, aesthetics and maintaining space for adult teeth. Baby molars, in particular, are needed until the child is least 9 years old, before the adult teeth will be ready to replace them. 07.01.2022 Mouthguards are a very important part of preventive dentistry for children, especially for those doing contact sports like basketball. It is not uncommon for us to see kids who got their front teeth chipped in a sporting accident, or even just riding a bike at home! Very mild chips might require no treatment or just some smoothening of the sharp edges. Otherwise they might need fillings to reduce sensitivity. Teeth that were more severely fractured might get the nerves ex...posed and require root canal treatment! Definitely something you would want to avoid. And it can be done so very easily, just by wearing a mouthguard. Custom mouthguards are very comfortable and fit well so that kids can focus on their games rather than worrying about whether their mouthguards are going to drop off in the middle of the game. In recognition of their importance, sports mouthguards are usually fully covered by major private health funds. Today, six-year-old Jess is getting her very own mouthguard made. Her elder siblings have all had theirs done and it's finally her turn. Her tiny mouth made taking the impression of her teeth a little tricky but Jess took it all with panache! We removed the attachments (little tooth coloured knobs on the teeth placed before starting treatment which help the Invisalign aligners perform digitally precise movements) and will go on to state-of-the-art technology Vivera retainers and a round of teeth whitening to complete Peggie's brilliant new smile.
