We nearly lost her the night post surgery, plus kidney failure & a bleed on her brain ... This is the reason Help us raise much needed funds for the Beach House Project, providing a holiday get away for families caring around the clock for their children with life limiting medical conditions. Its easy for us to book a getaway... but imagine having to plan your trip around a hospital ambulance pack medical aids and equipment such as wheel chairs, peg feed, oxygen machine, medication... etc With over 80 families under WCH palliative care unit this holiday house is much needed. 16.01.2022 Heartkids Awareness Day 12 Challenge Word "SMILE " I see so many gorgeous smiling faces on all children. They all make my heart melt.... But personally I love seeing smiles of Parents when their child graduates out of PICU (Pediatric ICU). Our babies had just been though a journey that we are not ready nor looking forward to the next time. Love the smile of the Pilot of Virgin. He had to fly at a lower altitude for miss. We all travel to Melbourne for Open Heart Surgery. Costs Heartkids $1000 per family 3-4 are in Melbourne every week. We receive zero government assistance when your not working no money coming in. 05.01.2022 The Baker family are in to our 3rd year of project "Abbys Gift" Making 30 Christmas Hampers for families staying at Ronald McDonald House Adelaide and filling the emergency pantry with assistance from our amazing community. Families who relocate to Ronald McDonald house can not receive assistance through other community services for Christmas food luxuries as they receive no government assistance and rely on family friends to pay for on going expenses. Our family knows to we...ll know what it is like to spend Christmas at Ronald McDonald House. Our families 1st Christmas was in Melbourne as we relocated for 7 weeks so our 10 month old could have her second open heart surgery. Last year Miss Abby spent her second Christmas in Hospital. We have many ways you can help. 04.01.2022 Heartkids Awareness Day 17 Challenge Word "Flashback" Being a Flashback Friday been thinking of something funny. But the term Flashback in association with Heartkids has a whole new meaning.... Abby has been critical a few to many times as you are all aware of now. But July last year an asthma attack caused by RSV and Rhino caused complications of 2 secondary infections causing surgery and pickline again. What happened in July: Abby ended up in resus. I was concerned and 2nd time of the same registrar dismiss my concerns. So for 48hours her care wasnt the best. On the monday morning at rounds her Consultant asked me to pick up, blood poured out of her ear onto my lovely new white jumper and limp in my arms infront of the consultant. And then see registrars running around. Next thing for the day her bedside is being filled with Consultants who were from different departments reading charts moving to ICU, ordering more tests & adding more meds... I am standing there trying to comprehend. But when the consultant tells you to call Dad to come in to the hospital now, I went back to that place where Abby was critical and be prepared for the crash cart to move back into her room.. Those emotions you held back 4.5yrs back suddenly HIT YOU & HIT YOU BLOODY HARD. Your stress levels are that high now Drs are concerned for you too. What I am trying to say if you know me you see a strong Mumma. But this Mumma cries a lot an emotional mess most days. And that is ok and allowed. I now been able to identity that I have been dealing with shock and grief. So my definition of Flashbacks isnt all do you remember when Abby 1st crawled in a lady bug suit on a boat? But Flashbacks for Heartkids parents is raw and very painful. #8toomany #sweetheartsday #heartkids #abilicious #abbysgift
