23.01.2022 RETURN TO GYM: For most of us, the gym has been out of bounds since March this year. As a heavy lifter myself, I’ve considered the last 8 months to be damage control. Minimise strength loss, keep as active as possible and adapt my training style to outdoor lighter weight work. Today I put a heavy bar on my back for the first time in 8 months. Of course I’m not at my strongest. My squats for reps have dropped by about 20kg. I decided to ease back in slowly. 60kg felt ample t...oday and I know with consistency and patience over the next few weeks I’ll be back up to 80kg for 4x10 in the new year. Primary importance for me is injury avoidance. Don’t attempt too much too soon, listen to my body, concentrate on a good range of motion and controlled tempo. 19.01.2022 I’d planned this activity with a 10kg slam ball but it was way too light for this hunk of muscle! Improvise we did - I found a rock that was closer to 20kg and made him use that instead. I challenge you to give this a go. It’s extremely exerting.
