19.01.2022 As screening services reopen over the coming weeks we hope that our patients will remember to attend for scheduled screening procedures including mammography, cervical screening tests, national bowel screening or colonoscopy and regular blood testing. Early diagnosis and risk factor management remains an essential aspect of primary health care.

19.01.2022 Getting the flu vaccine this year is more important than ever. The flu (influenza) is a highly contagious viral infection that causes significant illness in Australia each year. Protect yourself against the flu with your annual immunisation.

16.01.2022 Anyone who has needed care over recent weeks would have noted significant changes when making an appointment. Our reception team have be actively triaging in an effort to ensure the individual needs of our patients are met whilst considering the multiple appointment options. Many problems can be resolved with a telehealth consultation and these have been a convenient option allowing for basic medical needs to be met. More complex medical needs will require a face to face consultation. We have implemented many processes to make sure it is safe to attend our medical centre at this time and to ensure that this essential service can be maintained.

16.01.2022 Flu vaccines are recommended and are available for adults and children older than 6 months. Please feel free to discuss the benefits with your doctor

15.01.2022 We want to thank you for your patience over the recent months and hope for your continued support as we adjust to the easing of restrictions over coming weeks. Remain confident that Hillarys Medical Centre will continue to implement protocols, in a modified form, to ensure that optimal medical care can be delivered in a safe environment. As at June 1st our team of doctors nurses and reception staff will return to pre COVID rostered hours improving accessibility.... Our reception team will continue to triage patients with a series of questions about respiratory symptoms and will offer patients the options of telehealth consults with the doctor of their choice. This measure is designed to minimise the number of patients with acute respiratory symptoms within our waiting room and allow us to adhere to social distancing guidelines within the practice. If the doctor determines that a face to face consult is needed it will be arranged and patients will be asked to wait in their vehicle until appointment time and encouraged to wear a face mask. Remember the public health directive suggests that all patients with acute respiratory symptoms qualify for COVID 19 testing and we can advise on the most convenient collection centres. Our reception offers hand sanitiser and we encourage all patients to hand wash regularly whilst following best hygiene principles. Cleaning practices at Hillarys Medical Centre have been maintained at the highest of standards. All high contact surfaces will be thoroughly cleaned at regular intervals. You will notice that we are practicing personal distancing and will attempt to maintain 1.5m between patients wherever possible. With these measures we remain committed to offering the highest standard of care and support to our community.

15.01.2022 Mental health issues are always important considerations in general practice and Mental health care plans can be performed by telehealth or face to face consultation. There is no need to delay

13.01.2022 As we head forward all medical centers will face the prospect of exposure to COVID19 which will become increasingly difficult to distinguish from other viruses as they merge into the community. Here at Hillarys Medical Centre our patients and staff safety is a priority and we are taking very proactive steps with the aim of providing uninterrupted high level care to the community whilst protecting patients and staff from exposure. Over the last couple of weeks, we have imple...mented strategies to achieve this goal to ensure we can continue to provide a high quality of healthcare to the community. Our practice will run as two individual teams so that face to face care can be maintained. The morning team will commence at 8.00am trough till 1.00pm with the afternoon team commencing at 2.00pm through till 7.00pm. This will allow sufficient clearing time in between shifts. Telehealth appointments - please ask our administration staff when calling to make appointment If you are able to have a telehealth appointment, where your doctor will call and consult can be held over the telephone. We have implemented a Respiratory Clinics which we have been carrying out to date in our car park assessment bays. We have chosen to conduct these assessments in these bays in an attempts to keep the practice free of infection. Doctors will be allocated to conduct these clinics, please be understanding as you may not be able to see your usual doctor. For these clinics to be successful they will rely on patients to be triaged based on their symptoms. Our staff will be triaging patients on the telephone and front door to ensure patients are offered the most suitable appointment, respiratory clinic, telehealth consultation or a face to face appointment if the problem is deemed necessary Childhood and adolescent vaccination schedules will be seen by one of our doctors in a dedicated immunisation clinic. Please inform reception when you are booking for childhood immunisations. We understand that these measures may be frustrating at times, however, we deem them necessary and we ask that you remain kind and considerate to our staff who are working under extra pressure and placing themselves at risk to provide quality health care needs. Our motive is to keep patients and staff safe and to ensure that we can continue to provide high quality primary health care to our community as efficiently as the circumstances will allow We thank you for all of your support at this challenging time and stay safe.
