25.01.2022 If you are able to go to my Fb homepage and leave a Review - a few words about your experience and/or results - it would be hugely appreciated by me, and by those considering naturopathic health support. Thank you in advance!

25.01.2022 Yay! Rugby fixtures released today mean we are going to see our beloved Western Force play again next month! I hope they are looking after themselves with top-quality, HASTA-certified natural supplements like the QLD Reds are. Orthoplex is one of my favourite brands to use and prescribe, and they are the Reds' official sports nutritional supplement. I was born in Mt Isa, so have a soft spot for all things Queensland.... I love working with athletes so if you know anyone who needs to be performing and recovering at optimal levels now that contact sports are back in action, send them my way. https://info.bioconcepts.com.au/orthoplex-queensland-reds

23.01.2022 *Arnica* cream is awesome for bumps and bruises on soft tissue. *Comfrey* cream is for bones and joints. These photos are exactly one week apart. ... I had a swollen, sore black eye and a swollen, sore black finger from my touch rugby game last week, so I started using those creams - (arnica on my eyelid, comfrey on my finger) which I always keep on hand, and the recovery has been so good - was able to play again last night!

23.01.2022 RECIPE FOR SPINAL HEALTH Below is my article from our Hillarys Chiropractic and Wellness Professionals Newsletter. This month's topic was Spinal Hygiene. In our wholistic approach, Dr Lucy (Chiro) and Nicole (Hand to Heal Massage and Fitness) can ensure your best alignment and movement, Carmen (Mind Awakening) can facilitate helpful thought processes, and I can advise on the "ingredients" required: Support the bones of the vertebrae: Vitamin D from sunshine or supplementati...on Vitamin K1 from gut flora, green tea, kale Mineral supplementation (hard to reach optimal levels with diet) Collagen, e.g. powder in food or drink Support the cartilage of the discs: Hydrate, 2 3L filtered water per day Chondroitin sulphate and glucosamine sulphate supplementation Vitamins C & E e.g. Kale, spinach, kiwi, snow peas, berries, sunflower seeds Support the neurons of the spinal cord: Herbs which calm the central nervous system e.g. Sacred Basil/Tulsi, Chamomile, Lavender, Passion Flower There are many more which support stress, sleep and pain. Support the fluid around the spinal cord: Hydrate, 2 3L filtered water per day Glutamine in supplements, or from papaya, celery, spinach, lettuce, carrots, parsley, cabbage, brussel sprouts. Reduce inflammation/pain where required: Personalised compatible diet Alkalising food and drink Curcumin, White Willow, Boswellia, Ginger, Jamaican Dogwood, Devil's Claw Book a naturopathy consult to discuss your spinal health options, and overall well being. 21.01.2022 Thank you to my switched-on friend who shared this link. It is a list of suburbs and streets in the the City of Joondalup which will be sprayed in the coming week. Please steer clear of sprayed areas wherever possible. Glyphosate doesn't just have the ability to make your dog sick after a run at the park. It is a "probable human carcinogen" which is linked to neurodevelopmental issues in children (e.g. ADHD and autism) and neurodegeneration (e.g. Alzheimer's) in adults.... https://www.joondalup.wa.gov.au/pesticide-use-notification-

20.01.2022 Get your pantry stocked with organic goodness!

19.01.2022 * CONVENIENCE SNACKS * You can't always have a homemade paleo banana bread, or a pile of veggie sticks at hand! Sometimes you just need to grab something instant to eat on-the-go. For me this mostly applies to the kids, but the list below will be helpful for adults too. I shared this list with one of my clients this week, and I thought with school holidays on the horizon it was timely. My main criteria for convenience snacks and treats are 1) low sugar, and 2) minimal addit...ives. Actual nutrients are a bonus! 19.01.2022 It is ok to just BE.

19.01.2022 Good options for reducing coffee intake, especially where stress, anxiety and sleep issues are concerned. Remember to ask for lactose-free or dairy-free milk

18.01.2022 * DRY-ish JULY * This concept of a not-entirely-dry July totally aligns with my approach of being as realistic with my clients as possible. Taking baby steps, acknowledging there will be on & off phases, but every little bit helps. Whether you are concerned about cancer, immunity, weight loss, or just want a better night's sleep, here are some ideas for a Dry-ish July: ? Simply keep track of exactly how much you are drinking per week. Accurately add up the mls and convert to ...standard drinks (check the label), so you can be honest with yourself. ? Stick to the recommended limit of 10 standard drinks per week (not more than 4 per day), or 1.5 standard drinks per day. ? Nominate two days in a row each week to be alcohol-free. Or don't drink during the week. ? Only have a drink every second day. ? Delay your drinking, e.g. don't have a drink until after dinner, or after the kids have gone to bed. ? Dilute your drink, e.g add soda water to white wine, cider and spirits, buy low- or mid- strength beer. ? Space your drinks, ideally with something low-sugar like sparkling mineral water or soda water, which you can buy flavoured or add some lemon juice to. ? Support your liver and kidneys by increasing your water intake during the day, and taking a herbal supplement before bed. ? Think hard about why you drink. For many people it is stress or anxiety related, which can be addressed with some support. Naturopathy has an amazing range of options, including help with addictive tendencies. https://www.dryjuly.com/dryish-july

15.01.2022 Following up on my chat with the GP last week regarding screening for breast and ovarian cancers... Essentially for me, this chat really highlighted the need for *risk reduction*. If you would like guidance on cancer risk reduction, please book a consult to discuss all your various options. Below are my notes on early detection from my GP appointment, and with reference to Cancer Council and Ovarian Cancer Australia websites.... BREAST CANCER - Self-examination, visual & physical, report any small change. - Women over 50 are invited for free mammograms. - Women under 50 are also eligible for free mammograms. However, a mammogram involves radiation, which itself is a risk factor. Starting mammograms earlier increases your exposure to radiation. For those under 50 with concerns, an ultrasound may be preferable. RISK FACTORS < Red Meat, especially Barbecued < Alcohol < Sweet Food and Drink < Pesticides, e.g. non-organic fruit & veg < High Oestrogen, inc, The Pill < X-Rays < Family History OVARIAN CANCER {Difficult to detect} Even the blood tests have a very limited application. - Bloating and/or discomfort in upper or lower abdomen: This is a very common symptom so don't be alarmed. It is most often related to either digestion or your menstrual cycle. - Urgent/frequent urination: This symptom is also common and is more likely to be related to stress or urinary tract infections. - Abnormal vaginal bleeding, e.g. between periods, after sex, after menopause: Again, there are more common explanations for this symptom, but it should always be investigated. RISK FACTORS < High Carbohydrate Diet < Cow's Milk < Saturated Fats e.g. off Red Meat or Chicken < Trans-Fats e.g. Hot Chips, Crisps, Biscuits, Pastry < High Oestrogen < X-Rays < Prior Breast or Colon Cancer

11.01.2022 This is my youngest client! Miss E is just two weeks old and I am so very proud of her Mummy - it has been exactly one year since she started seeing me, and in that time she has made some amazing health improvements. She has now had a drug-free birth and is mothering instinctively, with some great family support. Today she graduated to "NNA": No Next Appointment, which means mission accomplished for us, for now. But she knows I am always here for the next bump in the road.

10.01.2022 It was my birthday yesterday...but I have a gift for *you*! This wonderful Australian book is one I own a copy of myself. It was generously donated by Deanne Hislop - Building Biology WA. Tag someone you think would like it, and I'll randomly select a winner.

07.01.2022 Seeing my GP to discuss cancer screening. It has taken the recent loss of a special friend to get me moving on addressing my own family medical history. I will be sharing more on what your options are for screening, and of course risk reduction.

04.01.2022 I was just reviewing blood tests for my parents, and I want to tell or remind everyone...CHOLESTEROL = GOOD! * You need it to make female & male hormones * You need it to make cortisol and adrenalin * You need it for bile and fat digestion * You need it to make vitamin D in the sunshine... * All your cells need it in their membrane * Especially nerve cells and skin cells Statin medications can reduce levels of cholesterol so much, your body may struggle to fulfill these beneficial tasks. Yes, cholesterol is part of atherosclerotic plaques. These plaques are like "scars"on the inside of blood vessels. They reduce blood vessel elasticity and blood flow (see pic). If you are concerned about atherosclerosis, you need to address what has caused the damage to necessitate the healing over of the "scar". Often: - Exposure to environmental toxins - High blood sugar levels - Inflammation Obesity and high blood pressure make the situation more dangerous. Naturopathy is all about addressing underlying issues and creating wholistic health and wellbeing. I have a lot more information on cholesterol if anyone wishes to book a consult.
