24.01.2022 Rob Roy photo for the day. Let's remember Diana Davison. She initially drove the lumbering Mercedes at Rob Roy later driving the MGTC until Lex crashed it (in S...A?) in competition. The Mercedes had a Bob Baker body fitted as did the TC after the crash. Diana held the Ladies Outright Record several time. She had a cake tray which she won at Rob Roy. That cake tray I had mounted and it is engraved with the name of the the female driver with the FTD at our Historic and Classic meeting. See more

23.01.2022 Time for another 'virtual' track day. This time yet another variation of the Bryant Park track (AKA Haunted Hills). In September 2017 GCC held a multi-club even...t, this one was called 'A Triple Treat' and as the name suggests we got to try 3 different track configurations, 2 runs of each and the aggregate time was used to determine the winners. In this video you will see the Short Clockwise Track. See more

22.01.2022 Rob Roy photos for the day: Great photos of the WylieCar built by Arthur Wylie. The evolution of the WylieCar is an interesting story in itself. In Arthur's fir...st attempt at Rob Roy 1939, he beat the previous outright record held by Frank Kleinig. This however was in his Speedcar which he built himself. The war however intervened and Rob Roy would cease to operate under the LCCA for 6 years. Arthur heard that Kleinig was coming down from NSW to regain the outright record and with only 3 weeks to go, Arthur built what was to become the WylieCar. It consisted of a Model A chassis which was modified for a single seater and shortened to 84". A model A 3300cc engine was fitted. The car arrived at Rob Roy without a body for its debut. The result was that Arthur not only retained his outright from the Kleinig challenged but lowered the record. The photos shown were loaned to me from Arthur for me to copy. While alive, Arthur would often visit our home for a general chat and we formed a friendship that still brings back memories as do many of the Rob Roy competitors that shared their memories with me.

21.01.2022 Rob Roy photos for the day: Much of my Bruce Walton photos have been posted here before however some of the newer members may not have seen them before. Bruce w...as 3 times outright record holder at Rob Roy and it held special memories for him. The 6 times Australian Hill Climb Champion kindly wrote the forward to my book on Rob Roy and I enjoyed many conversations with Bruce and his wife Camille. Great people both of them. A short story of rediscovering Bruce - Knowing that Bruce Walton was on the Rob Roy outright record honour board, I rang many Waltons in the phone book until I eventually spoke to Camille who told me that Bruce was her husband. The phone call resulted in my first visit to the Walton's home and many cups of tea. Bruce with Camille came to Rob Roy many times until his passing. See more

11.01.2022 Rob Roy Photo for the day. Times are busy - I've missed a few days but we have been transporting belongings from Trentham to Ballarat for our impending move. He...re's a few of Frank Kleinig to make up for missing a few days. Frank and Arthur Wylie clashed often for the outright record at Rob Roy. Kleinig 1939 - 29.72 secs Wylie 1940 - 29.47 secs Wylie 1947 - 29.18 secs Kleinig 1948 - 28.72 secs Wylie 1949 - 28.32 and finally in the Cooper 1000 Arthur took his 4th and final outright with 26.55 secs. It was the start of the rear engined Coopers and a new group of drivers inc Jones, Davison, Walton, and Patterson.

He also took a class record in 53' with the XK 120 of 30.03 secs
