24.01.2022 Happy 1st day of Spring!!!

24.01.2022 At Midnight tonight, we will lock the front gate once again with Stage 4 restrictions in place, but it is important to remember that not everything is cancelled. Sunshine is not cancelled. Love is not cancelled. Summer is not cancelled. Reading is not cancelled. ... Nor are naps cancelled. Music is not cancelled. Imagination, kindness and conversations are not cancelled. Continue to smile, hope and be happy friends. Happiness is not by chance, but by choice. See more

23.01.2022 Our little recycled window & door hothouse is progressing nicely. We have the garden beds in place and moved some compost/ soil in. Still quite a few loads to go before planting, but the strawberries are liking the hanging baskets. Winter can slow some projects down, but we are in no rush with this one.

23.01.2022 While there is breath, there is life. Folks, we would like you to meet Margaret. She was abandoned by her mum, as she has weak front legs & couldnt keep up. Fortunately, she was located and brought back to Hillcrest in just enough time. Margaret is now drinking well, has had a bath, her legs have been bandaged and she settled by the fire. We will continue to monitor her overnight and if her legs haven't improved, she's in the car and off to the vet tomorrow. You've got this Margaret!

23.01.2022 Today was "tail banding the late season babies" day. Our sheep come up to the holding yard without an issue and are rather partial to a bucket of food. Some are more partial than others.....

22.01.2022 The hoomans of Hillcrest celebrated Farmer Scotts birthday today by rocking the matching jumpers with the fur babies. 1000 takes later, this was one pretty funny photo shoot! #isobirthday2020

21.01.2022 Earthworks have started for the next project but .... Let's just take a moment to appreciate that view!

21.01.2022 Flower meadow......sigh.

20.01.2022 Happy Valentine's Day Friends. Embracing Lockdown #3, we plan to take some time out later today and sneak in a picnic date in the paddock. Making memories together. And the best thing about memories, is making them.

19.01.2022 Its looking a little white outside.

19.01.2022 Some people are just so stinkin' talented! Please let me introduce you to @loveshakaustralia who have the most delicious products- skincare, home fragrance and soaps. I was fortunate enough to receive a pamper pack in the mail today from a dear friend of mine, who makes these & thought it would be nice to experience a little bit of luxury. She is aware that Victoria has been doing it tough with 6 months of covid restrictions and thought it might bring a smile. Oh smile I did! The thought alone made me smile, but the pack was to die for. If you're looking for the perfect pick me up or gift you must check them out. A thousand thank yous xx @hillcrest1895 #loveshakaustralia #artesian #soap #skincare #fragrance #natural #sustainable #inspired #botanicals #champagne #beer #gift #smile #thankyou

18.01.2022 Thank you to our friends at Ekal cottage for these gorgeous photos. Its hard to believe its been 6 months since the cart rolled out to the side of the road. We miss you all!

17.01.2022 Margaret just chillin' in her playpen. Still got wonky legs but yes, she knows her name!

17.01.2022 Snow brings a special quality with it. It has the power to stop life as you know it, dead in its tracks. Despite all we have seen & experienced, we still get the same thrill out of glimpsing a patch of snow. Happy Friday friends.

17.01.2022 Storybook charm, combined with raw beauty, stunning surrounds and vintage charm, make Hillcrest Farm the perfect choice for your country wedding or event. Opening 2021.

16.01.2022 Twins! New mum Charlotte, welcomed twins into the world early this morning. Both mum and kidlets doing well. One of each colour once again!

15.01.2022 Cead mile Failte. A hundred thousand welcomes. Vintage and traditional art, lines the walls of Lester's, our stylish and versatile soon to be complete, event venue. @hillcrest1895 #comingsoon #events #wedding #countrystyle #farmhouse #characterdesign #vintage #style #countryvictoria

15.01.2022 It might be cold and wet, wet, wet outside, but the pre- birthday festivities have begun! Farmer Scott is turning another year older next week, but Cooper just couldn't wait to give him their matching jumpers. Happy #isolation birthday Farmer Scott!!

15.01.2022 Woke up to a slightly oversized ornament on the tree.....the struggle is real. @hillcrest1895 #catsofinstagram #christmas #decoration #countrylife #blessed #smile #farmcat #itsbeginningtolookalotlikechristmas #wouldntchangeathing

14.01.2022 Margaret update. Those front legs showed no improvement today, so it was off to the vet. She is a great little traveller and charmed her way through all the vet staff with her big smile. On arrival, she was running a slight temperature, for which we have antibiotics. After three different plaster casts, she now has some mobility. It is thought she was born with the weakness, rather than mum accidentally crushing her. Hoping she makes great improvement this week, but for now,... she is fast asleep in front of the fire. Thank you to everyone for their well wishes. Margaret is a fighter. See more

14.01.2022 Vintage items are like friends. They each have a story, bring joy, stir the imagination and make you smile.

13.01.2022 This excites us very much. This Beautiful piece of locally milled timber is about to move into its final home, which means we are getting even closer to opening! #countrywedding #salon #herecomesthebride

13.01.2022 The sky is luminous in anticipation of wild weather approaching. Snow on the Alps predicted this weekend and although very unlikely it will reach us, we can only hope.

13.01.2022 Raising our glass today. Vale Prince Philip The Duke of Edinburgh 1921- 2021

13.01.2022 While it might be wet outside, the farm is springing to life- literally. Spring flowers are in full bloom, fresh asparagus is poking its head out and the hot house plants seem to be doubling in size. Our grape cuttings are starting to bud and we are super excited about the future prospect of a small vineyard. While regional Victoria starts to slowly reopen, we are thinking of our Melbourne friends. Its almost hard to put words together as to how tough its been for Victorians, but we hope your Spring is, like ours, full of promise.

12.01.2022 Sneak peak. The Salon powder room is that little bit closer to reveal.

11.01.2022 It was sooooo windy today with gusts of 80km felt at times. No damage and no trees down. Windy or not, its still beautiful. Happy Monday!

10.01.2022 Its time for a tour of the hot house or The Conservatory as its affectionately known. Come on inside.

10.01.2022 Tonight the farm weeps. Weeps not just for a horse- but for a family member. Belle you had the biggest heart. You made us smile. You loved us. You kept our girl safe. Xx By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill, is a lush, green meadow where time stands still. Where the friends of man and woman do run,... when their time on earth is over and done. For here, between this world and the next, is a place where beloved creatures find rest. On this golden land, they wait and they play, til The Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day. No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness, for here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness. Their limbs are restored, their health renewed. Their bodies have healed with strength imbued. They trot through the grass without even a care, til one day they whinny and sniff at the air. All ears prick forward, eyes sharp and alert. Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the herd. For just at that second, there's no room for remorse. As they see each other...one person...one horse. So they run to each other, these friends from long past The time of their parting is over at last. The sadness they felt while they were apart has turned to joy once more in each heart. They nuzzle with a love that will last forever. And then, side-by-side, they cross over...together. Belle Jolie 15.8.1990 - 12.9.20

09.01.2022 Rain, glorious rain.

09.01.2022 100% Farm to Plate. Its taken years of planning, careful breeding, building, planting, growing, preserving, storing, patience, trial & error and most of all...learning. But we did it. 100% Farm to Plate. Now to work on creating a nice wine to match!

06.01.2022 The Spring colours are crazy! November is traditionally a busy month for us & this year is no different. Its that final push before we take a break for Christmas, so there's lots of work happening around the farm. The days tend to warm up and we get a taste of summer. With so many projects on the go, its easy to forget to stop & take and breath...then we look up. 2020 is finishing nicely @hillcrest1895 #flowers #meadow #visithepburnshire #spring #weddingvenue #countrylife #breathe #ballarat #home #sweet #spectacular #colour #farmlife #garden #stunning #love #calm

06.01.2022 Take a book. Give a book. Share a book. The Free Little Library has been very busy of late, so is fully restocked with some great reads. Its going to be the perfect weekend for curling up with a book. Youll find us on the Ballarat Daylesford Rd, Dean.

04.01.2022 Its time for our fruit to get very drunk.

04.01.2022 Regional Victoria Just because we are still under restrictions, doesn't mean we can't enjoy some of our favourite things. Missing your favourite products? The Roadside Stall remains closed....but Send us an inbox and we can organise contactless pick up from our Little Library.

03.01.2022 Its beginning to look, feel and smell a lot like Christmas. With restrictions finally lifted in Melbourne, we were able to all come together for the first time this year, mix the puddings and make a wish! That moment alone, was worth leaving the fruit a little longer to become very, very drunk. There's something special about everyone in the kitchen The tree is up, the Nutcrackers are ready to march and the dogs are suitably dressed. 20ml of flooding rain in a few minutes slowed us up a little, but we definitely have the Christmas feels.
