21.01.2022 Thank you to those students who helped create our Virtual Choir for the Anzac Day video. A massive shout-out to Mr Kissick for pulling all of those audio and visual files together to create such a wonderful tribute to our soldiers.
20.01.2022 Caring for our Aged Care Residents Hillcrest Choral Now more than ever is a chance to think of our Grandparents and those in our Aged Care Communi...ty. Our Choral Department has missed performing and taken their talents and love for music to create a special video compilation of songs and messages to share with Aged Care residents. The videos have been shared with some local centres and ultimately the residents. The video featured familiar songs, solo performances, and interactive content performed by our Choral students. We hope residents find it engaging, interactive, create conversations about loved ones, and sparking memories of their own school journey. Most importantly we hope it reminds them they are always valued and loved. If you know of any aged care providers who may appreciate the full DVD compilation, please leave a comment below or share it with your community contacts.

17.01.2022 DANCE TEAM WINS QUEENSLAND AND INTERNATIONAL ONLINE DANCE CHALLENGE On August 26th, the Hillcrest Christian College Dance Team competed in a state wide eisteddfod against over 50 schools across Queensland. Phoenix Online High School Dance Challenge is a virtual online Eisteddfod who redefined the nature of competing. We thank them for giving our school and the Dance Team a chance to compete this 2020 season. It was incredible to see our Dance Team working towards something ne...w and exciting in a year that has been so different to the past. The dancers were diligent, courageous, passionate and were over-joyed with their results celebrating each other and the school. They came 1ST OVERALL in their Contemporary. We then entered an Online International Dance Challenge, where we competed against dancers from Australia, United States of America, Canada and the United Kingdom. Art n’ Soul Virtual Dance Challenge is a unique event where dancers are able to connect online, on the international stage. Our dancers were adjudicated by their Los Angeles based professional faculty and we came 1st Overall Teen Small Group. A massive thank you to their teachers Miss Stenta, Miss Zoe and Mrs. Artunduaga. As well as Mr. Smith and his team for recording and editing our dances.
16.01.2022 We hope you enjoy ‘You Won’t Bring Us Down’ by our Hillcrest Bella Voce and Poco Voce Choirs. Our Choirs are participating in Australia’s largest school music ...participation program, "Music: Count Us In", which is back for another year. Growing steadily since 2007 the program sees students from all around the country take part, for free. All students learn the same song in the lead up to Celebration Day which sees students all around the country sing the same song, on the same day, at the same time. Music and Lyrics: L. Attar/E. 12.01.2022 YEAR 8 DRAMA Students have been studying the play 'Compass' by Jessica Bellamy all from the inside of our Drama classroom 'campground'. 'Compass' explores the values of respect, integrity, discernment, kindness and the ability to distinguish right from wrong in morally tricky situations. In 'Compass' the teacher is missing, there isn’t enough food, it’s getting dark and no one mentioned that the toilets out here are nothing but holes in the ground. For a small group of stude...nts, it seems their grade seven camp couldn’t get much worse, that is until a stranger appears. 'Compass' asks how far we’ll go to hold on to what we think we deserve. If we are barely managing to take care of ourselves, how do we treat an outsider? Is our moral compass set in stone, or can we get lost? To completely immerse ourselves in the play and the experience we decided to set the scene with tents, camp lights, torches and a makeshift fire. Just like in the play year 8 Drama students had to fed for themselves in a process drama lesson with setting up and camp and packing it back up again in a team building experience all while playing on each other’s strengths to complete the tasks. The students are so excited to perform scenes from 'Compass' at the end of term.

04.01.2022 TERM 3 YEAR 9 CLOWNING: Exploring the ‘Inner child’ "Inside every person there's a child that lingers along the way, let's never forget that once we were children and that we were all playing together without distinction of skin colour, society level, or where people come from" (Guy Laliberte, founder of Cirque du Soliel, 1st Clown in Space) An actor’s relationship with their audience is crucial. Clown training connects actor’s with their ‘inner clown’ (‘inner child’), allowi...ng them to openly share their world and feelings with their audience. In this unit students have explored actor/audience relationships by watching professional clown acts and how physical theatre performers are able to connect with their audiences without speaking. Students imagined they were auditioning for a Physical Theatre Company with an emphasis on Clown training. Part of the application process required applicants to demonstrate their understanding of actor/ audience relationship and the rules and conventions of clowning by critically analysing a professional performance and performing a comic act to their peers.
04.01.2022 Such a beautiful piece of music. The translation is this... Where charity and love are, God is there. Christ's love has gathered us into one. Let us rejoice and be pleased in Him. Let us fear, and let us love the living God.... And may we love each other with a sincere heart. Amen. See more
