25.01.2022 Our friends from The Basin Fire Brigade (CFA) have a valid point on with this one... Victorians seem to be finally doing the right thing to a degree with the new cases being much lower then what they have been in recent weeks. Don't forget that it is still a State Of Emergency which means that Under the state of emergency, the Chief Health Officer is able to make legally enforceable directions in order to protect public health, such as quarantine rules, mask wearing and phys...ical distancing. Stay safe! Stay healthy! -HFB Social Media Team

24.01.2022 Congratulations to our D22 neigbours Nagambie Fire Brigade CFA who have just moved into their new home! This will massively increase there operational readiness for the nagambie and surrounding communities! It will also offer much better facilities for their members to operate out of! Congratulations and enjoy! We can't wait to visit once restrictions have eased of course! -Hilldene FB social media team

22.01.2022 Thinking of our NZ brothers and sisters working in these conditions!

21.01.2022 In a year when many of us have faced challenges we’re more likely than ever to hear No, I’m not OK. Learn how to listen, help them find support and better ways to manage the load, and how to check in and stay connected at www.ruok.org.au/how-to-ask

20.01.2022 An interesting bit of information from the Bureau of Meteorology and Victoria State Emergency Service showing how little water it takes for a car to float in flood waters. This just reinforces the fact as to why you should never drive through flood water. - HFB social media team

19.01.2022 We all wish to get rescued by superheros one day, and these poor people who bogged their car got their special moment caught on camera! We all have idols we look up to and we now know who these guys will look up to! Hey Victoria Police, NSW Police Force and South Australia Police ?!

19.01.2022 Premier Daniel Andrews made an announcement earlier this afternoon in regards to COVID-19 restrictions. Here is a breakdown of those updates. If we all do our bit it'll make a massive difference. It really isn't that hard, is it? There is light at the end of the tunnel, even if it still does look a very long way away at the moment!... We're all in it together, so do your bit to help curb the spread.

19.01.2022 We would like to pass on a massive thankyou to Wangaratta Off-Road and Caravans for the kind donation of some basic recovery equipment for our newly acquired Ford Ranger FCV. This has been made possible by the hard work of the Hilldene and surrounding Communities to help us as a brigde raise the funds to make this possible, from Bunnings BBQs, donating cans, individual donations to chucking their spare change in our collection boxes. The new updated FCV will improve and incr...ease our operational readiness to serve our community and surrounds with a better working platform to operate out of at whatever the incident maybe. Once again, a big thankyou to Wangaratta Off-Road and Caravans for their kind donation 'Bought by the community, for the community' -HFB social media team

18.01.2022 September 11th 2001. It is a date on that change the world, our way of life changed on this day forever. People woke up for work this day like any other day, but it would be far from that. So many people sacrificed their lives that day for others, whole fire departments were wiped out, thousands of people were killed. On this day our thoughts are with New York City Fire Department (FDNY).

17.01.2022 I don't think a caption is really needed for this one... but... What's your excuse?

15.01.2022 Remember! Daylight sayings start this weekend Test monthly Dust annually Replace every ten years... 'SMOKE ALARMS SAVE LIVES'

15.01.2022 Everyone knew Victoria Police/Eyewatch - Mitchell Police Service Area loved donuts! And they've finally admitted it! But hey! Who can blame them! We all love these types of donuts! We're doing well Victoria! Keep at it and keep on doing the right thing and we'll beat this thing! DONUT give up now! ... -HFB social media team

15.01.2022 Life has been pretty tough for our community this year. Just remember, there's nothing wrong with how your feeling. Just like when something is on fire and you reach out to us, reach out to other professional organisations if you need them. That's what's they are there for after all.... Tomorrow, Saturday 10 October 2020 is world Mental Health Day. This year we're focusing on challenging the negative perceptions around mental health, and encouraging people to talk about mental health in a positive light. Join me and the Brigade this year and make a #MentalHealthPromise We hope everyone is staying safe, and looking out for each other. Lifeline - 13 11 14 Emergency - 000 - HFB Comms Officer

14.01.2022 With the high amounts of rain expected, and the flood warnings for seymour, be prepared, never drive through flood water. A typical car will lose power in depths greater than 15cm as water enters the exhaust and washes into the air intake, causing it to float once flood levels exceed 30cm IF ITS FLOODED, FORGET IT! VICSES Seymour

13.01.2022 New Rules in place for face masks. Stay Safe and if you feel unwell, please get tested.

12.01.2022 Chapter 2 of people that don't know what a 'Can Cage' is. We are very grateful of everyone that donates to our can cages as it provides us with a consistent fundrasing stream, especially during these tough times. BUT we would be even more grateful if people could take a little bit more time when dropping in to donate cans to actually empty them into the cages provided, instead of dumping 10 rubbish bags and 2 beer boxes full, which a couple had actually ripped and cans spre...ad everywhere. This is just a small thing we ask of our community, we don't want to be handling people's rubbish, hence why we leave the cages open for people to empty them in themselves, and with the amount of Coke and Redbull cans in which these bags consited of, those people would of had plenty of energy to do so! And it was good to see our friends with the glass spirit bottles made a return! Shame we're not collecting glass bottles! But again, thankyou to everyone who consistently donates and does the right thing for us, and a big thankyou to Victorian Metal Traders Pty Ltd who collect and swap over our can cages for us so we can keep on fundrasing, it wouldn't be able to run without your team. -HFB Social Media Team

12.01.2022 Do you know what to do if you see us in your mirrors with our lights and sirens on? If one (or more) emergency vehicle are coming towards you and they have activated their flashing red or blue lights and/or sirens you must move out its path as soon as you can safley do so. Other steps you should take include: - Be aware of your surroundings and listen to what is going on around you.... - Slow down to the required speed in the state in which you are driving. - Move as far left on the road as you can to give the emergency vehicle a clear run down the right side of the road. If you can’t move left safely, stay where you are and let the emergency vehicle overtake you. - If you are already in the left lane, ensure you allow other road users to safely move into your lane if it is safe to do so. - Be sure to indicate and signal your intentions to all road users, especially the emergency vehicles. - Most importantly, when giving way to an emergency vehicle DO NOT break the law (e.g. speeding to get out of their way). However, in some states you are permitted to go through red lights if it is safe to do so. ---What you shouldn’t do?---- -Do not move your vehicle suddenly and without thinking -Don’t slam on your breaks or stop suddenly if you hear or see an emergency vehicle approaching -Do not drive into the path of the emergency vehicle -Don’t speed up to follow the emergency vehicle to get a clear run through the traffic -If emergency vehicles are pulled over on the side of the road, don’t slow down too much to take a look at what is happening or worst still, don’t stop to see what is happening -Don’t drive too closely to stationary emergency vehicles which may be positioned close to the road, and make sure you are cautious of emergency personnel who could be in and around their vehicles -Don’t obstruct the traffic; you don’t want to be the cause of another incident on the road -Don’t play loud music that inhibits your ability to hear what is going on around you. This also includes using earphones in both ears - Lastly, never ignore a flashing light or siren. Knowing these rules, will help you act calmly when you see an emergency vehicle with it's lights and/or sirens activated. Remember that we could be trying to get to you, or one of your loved ones. So please, help us to help our community, and protect lives and property. - HFB Social Media Team

11.01.2022 Our friends over in the west have been receiveing a number of hoax calls lately. We’re very lucky we don’t respond to many of these here, but it’s a timely reminder that there are people out there who wish to take valuable resources away from the community for a bit of 'fun.' Not only this, it put’s our volunteers in a vulnerable position, especially during a pandemic. Please only dial 000 if you need emergency assistance. We will answer the call, no matter how small your eme...rgency - we love to help our community. But please don’t waste our time. For those wanting to make hoax calls to 000, you can face a maximum penalty of 3 years if caught. Is that what you want? For a 'bit of fun.' We stand by you during these tough times. We’re proud to serve our community, and to protect life and property. - HFB Social Media Team

11.01.2022 A message from our Chief Officer - HFB Social Media Team

10.01.2022 As you all should be well aware of now, mask will be mandatory in the Mitchell Shire and Greater Melbourne as of 11:59 tonight (Wednesday 22nd July) while out in public. There are 4 reasons that allow you not to wear a mask or face covering : People with a medical reason Children under 12 years of age, or 12-year-olds if they're attending primary school For professional reasons because it stops you doing your job, for example working in a call centre... A practical reason like when you go for a run Those caught without a mask on will face a $200 on the spot fine from our friends at Victoria Police. CFA (Country Fire Authority) have been making mask cool for a lot of years now! So please, join us by wearing one and doing your bit!

10.01.2022 As a few of you may know, Art is a big thing for us locally and Art has enabled us and other local brigades to raise money to help service our communities. The Hilldene Fire Brigade is proud to have some of the regions best 'Young' artist on offer! They've been kind enough to open their doors to showcase some of their best works! Any question contact Lynda, details on the flyer

07.01.2022 CFA has received a number of calls from community members regarding bonfires to mark the ‘Spark in the Dark’ event this evening. We appreciate those who are tha...nking our frontline workers, but urge you to keep fire safety front of mind. As today’s conditions are windy in some areas we are urging those who wish to participate to not do so by lighting bonfires or using fire pits. If you are choosing to light a candle, please ensure it is monitored by an adult and extinguished properly. You might like to mark the event by using a torch or outside light. Thank you and stay safe.

06.01.2022 ***UPDATE*** Level crossing has now reopened

02.01.2022 Captain Koala leads by example and listens. So what's your excuse? Can't wait to play a new game from today onwards of guessing who's under the mask when someone says hello to you! How simple is that!? CFA District 12

01.01.2022 COVID-19 Update - A staff member at Kemp’s Bakery in Kilmore has tested positive for COVID-19. This staff member worked between 1 October and 11 October. The families and household members of Kemp’s Kilmore staff are requested to isolate until their household staff member receives a negative result. They do not need to get tested, unless they have symptoms. The families and household members of Kemp’s Wandong are not being requested to isolate or get tested at this time. Anyone in Kilmore or Wandong should get tested if they have any symptoms, however mild. As always, anyone with symptoms must isolate at home until they have a negative test result and their symptoms resolve. Testing is available today at Kilmore District Hospital. 01.01.2022 As most people that support Hilldene FB would be aware of, we have can cages that we use for fund raising, and as the name states, they're only for cans. Not for Glass bottles or plastic bottles or rubbish, as it's not a rubbish bin. Or the 'its a can cage I'll just chuck bags of cans in she'll be right.' Please if you're going to donate cans to our fundrasing efforts which help us serve our community and surrounds, please, only empty, and by empty i mean tip any bags or boxes you may have into the cages and take the bags away with you. Same goes with glass bottles. This saves our members having to handle dirty bottles and rubbish bags as well as various other things that people decide to chuck in for us. It would be of great help if people would follow those things.
