24.01.2022 Dear Parents/Caregivers, My name is Louise Burke and I have been appointed as Principal at Hillman Primary School for the remainder of the year. I am very excited to become part of the school community and I look forward to meeting you over the coming weeks. I started my career as a teacher in Carnarvon in 1985. Since then I have had a range of jobs in a variety of settings and in a number of varied roles. My passion is children and spending time with them. I enjoy being a pr...incipal very much indeed! You will have received a letter from Mr Jamieson a letter dated 3 June 2020 outlining how the school is managing the current COVID-19 situation. Please familiarise yourself with this letter. As from the start of Term Three, the same actions are in place. Parents can still drop their children at the gates where they will be met by members of staff. Students can make their own way to class where they will be met by their teachers. While parents can come onto school grounds we would ask you to limit this as we want to safeguard the health and well-being of all school community members. Parents/caregivers are not permitted in classrooms. The cleaning routines put in place will also continue during Term Three. Thank you for your cooperation with this and I look forward to getting to know you over the coming weeks. Louise Burke Principal Hillman Primary School Phone 08 9553 8300

21.01.2022 Looking for fun and inclusive sport for the kids this year? Then why not look into Teeball. With age groups from Kindy to Year 6 it really is sport the whole family can get involved in. 1. Tee ball is a team sport that encourages patience, teamwork, sportsmanship and personal responsibility. 2. Rockingham Raptors offer the same opportunities to all children regardless of skill or experience and competitions are open to all levels of ability. We are focusing on inclusion. 3. ...We offer and encourage opportunities for parents to get involved in a range of different volunteer roles. Being a member of our club helps the whole family participate in the "Act Belong Commit" message. 4. We keep fees as low as possible to allow all families the opportunity to join. The full season only costs $120.00 in fees plus $10.00 in uniforms and this covers all costs. We are also a Kidsport registered club and families with Healthcare Cards can apply to get their full fees covered. 5. We are a local club and all games and training sessions are held at Georgetown Reserve, Safety Bay making it easy for busy families to attend. 6. As only a junior club our focus is purely on the opportunities and experience of our junior members. However a future in diamond sports is also available as sports like softball and baseball are well represented in our local area. 7. Registration is easy. We have a website available and registrations can be done online at a convenient time for the family. https://teeballrockingham.wixsite.com/home See more

03.01.2022 CANTEEN NEWS We would like to take this opportunity to Thank everyone who has been supporting our Canteen, especially those who are using QuickCliq online and helping to keep us safe through these Covid-19 times. We will be making a few changes over the next year and we hope we will have your support and patience? Term 3 we will be making with a few adjustments to our Menu to come into line and adhere with the Traffic Light System put in place by the Food Health Organisatio...n. For those who are unsure about the Traffic light System, this is simply a system put in place to follow a healthy menu for all our students and staff which is shown by a GREEN AMBER RED colour coding menu. GREEN means these foods can be available every day. AMBER means these foods may only be available a couple times in a week. RED means we may NOT have any of these items available at all. Along with a change in menu items we are also at a time where some of our product prices have increased so we need to raise a couple of the prices of these menu items. Please know that we have kept all our prices to a minimum to keep an affordable menu. New Menus will be available at the canteen. We will keep you posted with our changes as they occur, Cheers Maureen & Tan See more

01.01.2022 What Are the Health Benefits of Playing Baseball? Playing baseball builds strength in your arms and legs Holding and swinging a baseball bat and throwing and catching the ball requires use of the entire upper body. Certain motions, like swinging, can also build joint flexibility.... Your legs will also get a great workout. Moving in different directions helps develop strength and mobility in all of your muscles. Baseball improves cardiovascular health, too Batters sprint to the bases, outfielders run toward fly balls, and catchers often have to chase after foul balls. Playing baseball gives hand-eye coordination a big boost Hand-eye coordination may not come naturally in the beginning, but will improve significantly with more practice. Baseball is even good for the mind. Like most sports, playing baseball involves making quick decisions and paying attention to your surroundings. When batting, youll think about when to hit the ball, how to hit it, and where you want it to travel. But best of all youll connect with your team and make friends during a baseball game. Baseball is a team sport, which means youll spend time socialising and getting to know your teammates. Youll quickly become friends with like-minded people as you practice and play together. Why not head down to Hourglass reserve and "Have a Go " and give Hillman Primary School a chance at winning the Diamond Sports Pack.
