15.01.2022 P A R E N T I N G I reckon the hardest part about parenting my 4 little monkeys is the 24/7 nature of it!! They catch me (or literally jump on me haha) before I’ve had my morning coffee & before I’ve got headspace to think clearly about how I want to respond, (in a way I won’t later regret). As a parent and a professional (and now through an understanding of some basic neuroscience which informs us about how we respond under stress), I believe that if we have a clear fra...mework in mind about what to do, when... and if we’ve had time to reflect and hone this for our own families, we can set ourselves up to be the kind of confident presence we want to be in our children’s lives!!! MAKE 2019 THE YEAR!! We’d love to welcome you to our 123 Magic and Emotion Coaching EVENING course, commencing in Term 1 at ROUSE HILL TOWN CENTRE. We run this course with groups of about 20 mums and dads, the course is designed for parents of 2-12 year olds (we hone in on the under 7s)..so you can grab a cuppa, have a laugh, and learn some new skills in a friendly, judgment free zone. 14.01.2022 When I look Away Speaking for the Baby Campaign - Centre for Perinatal Psychology Babies love to look at faces. Minutes after birth, a baby can focus on a fa...ce and imitate expression amazing! Babies prefer to look at faces than any other object. Mutual gaze ~ looking at each other ~ is a powerful way to ‘hold’ each other and communicate. Mutual gaze is often intense during feeding and when chatting together. It’s a powerful bonding experience and part of the emerging ‘love affair’ between parent and baby. But, it’s hard work for a little one to keep up with the intensity of it, and they need to take a break. When they look away it’s not because they are bored of you, or don’t like you they just get tired and need a rest.
