24.01.2022 There will be NO in-person worship at St Cuthbert's Church, Darlington this Sunday 7 February. There will be a short online prayer service via Zoom at 9.00am this Sunday. The service will have a focus on those affected by and responding to the recent fire. The Zoom link will be advised via the Mustard Seed e-newsletter. If you are not on the mailing list, please email [email protected] for the link. There will be a 'normal' Sunday service on Sunday 14 February, including Holy Communion, singing, children's program and morning tea.

24.01.2022 Tomorrow morning, at the conclusion of our Eucharist for All Saints Day we will begin our campaign to raise funds for new chairs in St Cuthbert’s. These chairs will replace the ‘temporary’ plastic chairs inside the church building (which have been there for eight years ). The good news is, one of them has already been ‘bought’!... Each chair costs $140, and you’re invited to buy a whole chair, or half a chair for $70 or even a chair leg for $35. Of course any gift is welcome, and will help towards the total. Plus, tomorrow morning we are introducing our new Square Terminal, so we can finally accept card payments. Of course, you can also give in cash. Plus, you can give online at www.hillsanglicans.com/donate You might find it easier to give a little bit at a time, or wait until pay day. There’s no hurry. But if you are committed to ‘buying’ a chair or three, please take one of these tags home with you as a reminder - plus they have a reminder of how to give it online if you need it.

23.01.2022 71 homes have been lost so far in a large fire which affects the parishes of Mundaring, Darlington-Bellevue, Midland, Swan, Ellenbrook and Gin Gin-Chittering. A number of our parishioners are involved in fire-fighting and relief efforts. The rest are being watchful and making preparations for the night ahead. To our friends around Australia and the world, we invite you to prayer and solidarity.... Please pray for: Strength, for fire and emergency services personnel Resilience, for support workers Calm, for children Peace, for animals Wisdom, for local and state government leaders Safety, for all those in and near the fire zone Most especially, please pray that, whatever the loss of property, there will be no loss of life. In the coming days, there will be financial appeals that you can support. Local people will be grateful for all that you offer. If you would like to do something small and immediate, here's an idea. You can buy a 'pay-it-forward' coffee for $5 or a meal for $15 at Café Mojo in Mundaring. They are providing free coffee to emergency services and food to those who need it. They are all set up via their website, because they offer 'pay it forward' every day. Click on this link, then click on 'Vouchers and Pay it Forwards' at the bottom left. https://mypreorder.app/#/menu/cafe-mojo

23.01.2022 Our partners at Anglicare WA are offering free counselling to those who are struggling since the bushfires. This may be those who have lost property, but also those who had to evacuate or may be helping others. If you are finding it tough, please reach out. The help helps.

18.01.2022 Caroline, Rainjan and Chris met this morning to start planning for this year's Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols. Put it in your diary for Sunday 13 December at 7.30pm, followed by supper!

17.01.2022 Today we welcome Deacon Sarah Stapleton as guest preacher. She is ‘on loan’ from St George’s Cathedral while Father Chris preaches at their two morning services. The Reverend Theresa Harvey will preside at the Eucharist. As a parish, we are not used to a deacon fulfilling their distinctive functions in the liturgy, but this Sunday you will notice that Sarah does particular tasks - reading the gospel, introducing the confession and offering the dismissal. These tasks reflect t...he areas of emphasis for the deacon’s ministry. Deacon Sarah shares in ministry at the Cathedral, and serves as Chaplain to St George’s Anglican Grammar School. Deacons have a particular vocation to connect the faith community to the wider community. Some deacons remain as deacons for their entire ministry, while others (like Sarah) are deacons for a set period before they are ordained priests. Sarah will be ordained a priest on Monday 30 November. Deacon Sarah is looking forward to meeting parishioners. She would love to talk to you about St George’s Anglican Grammar School, the only school in the Perth CBD. Sarah’s professional background includes the aviation and real estate industries. She is the proud owner of two cats, two dogs, one son and one husband. See you at 9.00am!

16.01.2022 ‘Rejoice in God’s saints, today and all days’ See you at 9.00am at St Cuthbert’s today for the Eucharist for All Saints day.

14.01.2022 Collection is underway for Koolkuna Women's Refuge bucket appeal. As of last Sunday, we have collected nine buckets. They disappeared so quickly that no one snapped a photo! But here's a picture of last year's buckets so you know the kind of thing to bring. Firstly you need a bucket, then fill it with cleaning and personal items - the kinds of things you would need if you're just getting started in a new home.

12.01.2022 This evening St Cuthbert’s Youth reflected on the meaning and purpose of Advent. They made their own Advent calendars in a range of different styles. What do you think? How are you getting ready to come close to the Mystery of Christmas?

11.01.2022 A blessed Easter to all! Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Holy Week and Easter observances. The Paschal Candle now burns in the place of honour for fifty days until Pentecost. Christ is risen! Alleluia! Alleluia!

09.01.2022 The local World Vision group are working hard to raise funds for communities in developing economies. Mary has antlers growing out of her head for some reason, but it is presumably for a good cause.

07.01.2022 We were so grateful to receive a Reconnect grant from the Shire of Mundaring COVID-19 Relief and Recovery Fund. After the first lockdown, we worked with our community partners to put in place a Covid Safety Plan. We made sure that hand hygiene was a priority, and that people were physically distancing while on site. We also implemented enhanced cleaning protocols to reduce the risk of transmission, and introduced improved rules around food handling. The safety plan enabled us... to welcome community groups like Blackboy Hill Quilters and the Drumming Circle back into the buildings. Mainly Music could restart, as well as music, art and yoga classes and book club. We were able to restart our interfaith gatherings and welcome people to meditation sessions again. Our Reconnect grant helped us to install hand sanitiser stations around the site. It also helped us move towards being cashless, with the purchase of an EFTPOS device to receive payments. Both of these have been warmly embraced by the many members of the local community who come on site. Thanks Shire of Mundaring!

07.01.2022 ! If you are attending the Darlington Arts Festival today, you are warmly invited to park at St Cuthbert's Church, corner Darlington and Hillsden Roads, Darlington. It's just a short walk through the lych gate and past the bus shelter to the oval. While you're there, why not drop in to the World Vision Super Stall? The local World Vision group raise funds to support people in developing economies to increase their standard of living.

01.01.2022 Who is coming on Saturday to this useful and important training? Father Chris has spots in the car so you can come along and learn. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive church, but there's always more to learn.
