18.01.2022 Our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) team has been engaging in professional learning today. PBL is a positive framework that supports student wellbeing at school. Our whole staff have been learning about PBL this term and we are very excited to begin implementing this framework in 2021. If you would like to learn more about PBL, the team will be delivering a report to the P&C at their next meeting on Monday, 30 November. We would love to see you at the meeting and tell you all about the benefits of PBL.

15.01.2022 Year 5 students have been given the opportunity to design our 2021 Year 6 shirt. We are looking for symbols/patterns/pictures that represent our school, our environment and the many cultures within Year 5. Templates were sent home on Friday and are due to the office this Friday, 27th of November. If students need a new template they can be collected from the office.
14.01.2022 || Kinder 2021 || Wow! What a fantastic morning we had today with our new Kindergarten friends! We had lots of fun playing together, getting to know one another and singing some silly songs with Mrs Hewitt! We can't wait to see you all again next week.
13.01.2022 4/5P loved making damper. The students ate it with the Lilly Pilly jam made from the berries they picked from the bush tucka garden here at school. Everyone thought it was really yummy! Always Was, Always Will Be
10.01.2022 The staff and students have been working together to identify fun activities to be involved in during break times. We are delighted to be able to open up new play areas for students in the coming weeks. We believe our plan will accommodate the needs of students who may not like to engage in play on the back field or who enjoy a more structured, quiet play time. The hall will become a hive of fun, friendship and learning with activities ranging from table tennis to lego, boar...d games to circus skills. We are also looking forward to our new fairy garden, dinosaur world and mini skate park being created by our students (with the assistance of our General Assistant and teaching staff). If you have any items such as: matchbox cars, pokemon cards, board games, tech decks or items suitable for a fairy garden, we would be very appreciative of your donation.
08.01.2022 Speeches for Year 5 students seeking a leadership position will be held Monday 30 November at 9:30 am. All nominees will be required to prepare a short speech that will be delivered to Stage Three students, Stage Three staff, the Principal (and other staff members as available). The focus of the speech is about how students can be a responsible leader of Hillsborough Public School. The speech is to be approximately one minute in duration and does not require students to use... any props or dress up in a costume to sell themselves as a leader. Following these presentations all Stage Three students and staff members will vote (one vote each for boy and girl leaders) and the votes tallied by the Principal and the Stage Three AP or a member of the Executive team. The combined student and staff votes will create a shortlist of 6 girls and 6 boys who will progress to the whole school presentation and Captains’ Election. Students who are included on the shortlist, will be given a note indicating their success and inviting them to present to the whole school at the Student Leadership Assembly on Monday 7 December 2020 at 9:30 am. The results will be announced on Monday 14 December. Elections will be held on the Tuesday after presentation day for Ministers/Deputy Ministers and House Captains. Ministers/Deputy Ministers will be elected by the current Year 4 and Year 5 students who will form the following years Student Parliament while House Captains will be elected by all of the members of their respective houses. We look forward to hearing from the future leaders of HPS.
07.01.2022 Stage 3 have the moves too. They must have learnt it from Kindergarten.
06.01.2022 Book Week 2020 Check out these Curious Creatures! Even our teachers enjoy dressing up as their favourite characters.
06.01.2022 It is so satisfying to see the pride our students have in the work they produce. Oscar could not wait to show me this fantastic postcard he created about the Daintree. Oscar designed the postcard and matching stamp and then wrote about all the wonderful activities you can do in the Daintree, demonstrating his outstanding research skills. The best part of talking with Oscar about his work was the way his spoke about his learning journey and his perseverance in improving his h...andwriting. What a great growth mindset he has! Watching students achieve their learning goals is the most rewarding part of my job. Well done Oscar!

04.01.2022 Our Skoolbag app has been updated! We have had reports from some parents that their Skoolbag app was not working properly or that Hillsborough had disappeared from their app completely. Please update your app via your app or play store. This should fix any issues.
03.01.2022 We love hearing about the successes of our students, both in school and outside of school. This morning I was thrilled to receive an email about Ava's achievements at a recent aerobics competitions. Ava placed first in the State sport aerobics competition recently and this weekend competed in the Australian National Championships. This was an individual competition and we are excited to report that she placed 3rd in the Cadet Section (girls age 11 and 12 years on average). I... am sure you will agree that this is a wonderful achievement in a national competition. Ava is very proud and is already training for next year! All of us here at Hillsborough Public School are so proud of Ava's achievements and we are delighted that she is part of our learning community. Congratulations Ava!
