13.01.2022 Hills Building Consultants top tips - shower recess Showers on internal brick walls can have problems with water seeping into the brick work leading to damage to walls, paint work, skirtings and flooring. The problem usually arises from water seeping through the grout as it is slightly porous and will allow some moisture thought over time. The damage is normally not structural but can be costly to repair. Hills Building Consultants uses an electromagnetic moisture detector that can pick up signs of moisture in the wall before any visual signs appear all without any damage or marks to the wall surface. One photo below shows a wall with visible damage, on the other moisture was detected with out any visible damage showing to the wall.
