18.01.2022 Hello wonderful people! Do we know anyone who does screen-printing? We'd love to get a handful of HCTL t-shirts printed up for volunteers to wear at events. If you or someone you know can help we'd love to hear from you!

17.01.2022 Are you a whizz on a sewing machine (or even just slightly better than me which is not very good at all!)?? We need a new "Costume repairer". With only a small(ish) number of costumes to take care of, it's not an overly demanding job. We just need someone with some sewing talent to keep our costumes in good nick. Can you help? Or know someone who can? We'd love to hear from you.

17.01.2022 We are thrilled to announce that the Toy Library will be re-opening its doors on Wednesday 3 June with the normal days and hours of operation! The committee has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to come up with a new borrowing procedure which will be in place until we receive further advice from the Government about easing restrictions, and has been designed to keep our volunteers and families safe. You will find full details of this new procedure in an email we sent... a few moments ago. Moving forward, all members will need to visit the Toy Library individually (without children) only after you have made a booking through the Toy Library website which can be found on our website - https://hillstoylibrary.org.au/ The borrowing time slots have been set at 15 minutes each. We request social distancing is observed at all times when visiting the library and if you are feeling unwell, we ask that you stay home. Finally, we have since introduced EFTPOS and PayWave facilities in the library so if you are needing to renew or purchase a membership that can be done on-site without needing to exchange cash. We thank all our volunteers and members for continuing to support the HCTL during this time and assure that this new borrowing procedure is expected to be in place only for the interim until further notice is received on easing restrictions. We look forward to welcoming everyone back (during their allocated booking) from Wednesday 3 June!

17.01.2022 Father's Day is just around the corner and our first Covid-style fundraiser is all about the Dads (but should be shared with Mums too in my opinion!). Buy a ticket or two (or more) in our special Father's Day raffle and you could win a fabulous prize thanks to our friends at Somerled Wines Enter now! https://www.raffletix.com.au/?ref=4mrud

17.01.2022 Remember our last two session will be running this morning and tomorrow morning before we close the doors until (at least) the end of the school holidays. Come in and stock up!

16.01.2022 UPDATE: we have some good news, a re-opening date is getting closer! We haven't yet finalised everything but we're currently working through the logistics in order to ensure all our members and volunteers remain safe and healthy once the doors are open again. We'll be getting in touch with our volunteers very soon to work through rostering so please keep an eye on your email. ... Once we have everything locked in, we will inform everyone of our new 'normal' and how Toy Library visits and borrowing will look for the foreseeable future. Thanks everyone for your continued patience, we can't wait to welcome you to the Library again soon

15.01.2022 In the Toy Library you might have seen what looks like a random card table and some rolled up spare doll cradle bedding - but it's actually a lovely little cubby, perfect for a cosy snuggle nest, teddy bear tea party or a space to retreat to with snacks and Netflix after a hard-won bedtime...

15.01.2022 Please check out the Adelaide Hills Library's online school holiday program - just because we're spending some quality time at home doesn't mean we miss out on getting to have some holiday fun!

15.01.2022 The ride-on shed is no longer the toy quarantine station, so don't forget to come around the side to choose something to stretch those little legs!

15.01.2022 We have a great range of musical instruments and toys at the library... https://www.careforkids.com.au//how-music-making-benefits-

14.01.2022 And the winners are... Lucy Byrne: A round of golf for 4 people at Echunga Golf Club Bill Kidd: Somerled Cellar Bar tasting experience Sue Arthurson: Maggie beer gift basket... If you don’t have a membership now is a great time to get one to take advantage of book week costume borrowing along with the many other toys, puzzles and board games

14.01.2022 Work smarter, not harder! Props to the borrower who worked out to put these struts in chunks of 10 - considering this toy has 176 of the flipping things anything that makes counting them easier deserves a mention in despatches...

14.01.2022 BOOK, BROWSE N BORROW We still have plenty of sessions available this weekend for our members, including: Saturday: 10:00 Sunday: 10:00, 10:30 and 11:00... So check out the Calendly link below and see you soon! https://calendly.com/hillstoylibrary/browse-borrow

13.01.2022 Dear HCTL members and volunteers, In response to the global COVID-19 pandemic, it was decided at tonight's committee meeting that the HCTL will close from Monday 23 March. We will be monitoring the situation closely and will advise a re-opening date when appropriate. We encourage you to visit the toy library during a volunteer shift before Monday to stock up on toys. We have also increased the borrowing limit to six toys in this instance (normally four). ... You will still receive automatic overdue reminders during this time (four weekly) however, please ignore these while the library is closed and once we have announced a re-opening date you will be able to return/swap as usual. For all members and volunteers attending the library please ensure appropriate hygiene practices are adhered to, and of course, clean all return and borrowed toys thoroughly. We want our community to remain healthy during this time. If you are feeling unwell or have recently travelled overseas, please do not visit the library. Thank you for understanding. HCTL committee

13.01.2022 ***UPDATE*** Yes, we will be closed until Friday November 27th - just note that all items have been renewed for four weeks Here we go again... We have put a blanket renewal on all current loans, so you all have an extra four weeks on any toys you currently have, and we are still running our contact tracing register, extra toy cleaning and minimising the number of people in each room in our regular borrowing session times.... The situation is changing quickly and we really appreciate everyone's patience, especially our amazing volunteers - and while we wait for further news, please don't hesitate to message us if there's anything we can help our families with!

13.01.2022 Here's a graph that should make you smile!

13.01.2022 Have you entered our raffle yet??! Some great prizes up for grabs... https://www.raffletix.com.au/?ref=cuu98

13.01.2022 Just a reminder that due to having to close for a little while we extended memberships and the due dates on the toys, so relax, make a booking to come visit and check out our range of toys on the database at Mibase!

12.01.2022 Toy library tip: when visiting the toy library, please remember to keep one Pop-Up Fun Tunnel (HCTL code 88047) between you and the volunteer at all times. (And to see where we got this picture and toy details from, check out the library catalogue at https://hills.mibase.com.au/mem/login.php)

12.01.2022 We had such a fun "working" bee today. We decided that the best way to take some new photos of our party pack items would be to set them up and let the kids party! Keep us in mind for your next little people party (or even big people party where you want to keep the little people entertained!). If you have a current membership the party pack is available for an extra $40 plus $60 for the bouncy castle!

11.01.2022 Term 3 kicked off this morning with open walk-in sessions and new wall decorations (reminding us all to stop the spread of germs but keep up the 1.5 metre spreading out of people!) This month's feature toys include the toy cleaning station and sign in sheet for all visitors - which everyone gets to play with!

11.01.2022 We have some 15 minute sessions available tomorrow morning and through the weekend, so check in to book a session and check out some great toys! http://hillstoylibrary.org.au/

11.01.2022 We are thrilled to announce that the Adelaide Hills Community Toy Library will re-open properly the week commencing 20th July 2020. Thank you for your continued understanding, patience and support as we reopen for browsing and borrowing! We are excited to see you all again!

08.01.2022 Thinking of all our parents out there. Wish we could be of more help during these tough times

07.01.2022 TOY LIBRARY UPDATE: It's been a hot minute since our doors were temporarily closed and we wanted to let all our members know that we will be in touch as soon as we have confirmed a re-opening date. 06.01.2022 This might actually work!

06.01.2022 Hi everyone - hope you all had a great weekend, and you're as excited as we are with the toy library opening up again this week! As you're no doubt aware, reopening will mean operating quite differently to what our members are used to, so please check your inbox for an email regarding our new arrangements. However, here is a quick reminder:... - The good news is, we will still be open the same days and hours you are all used to! - You will get to have the toy library all to yourself, with individual 15 minute time slots to return and select toys (although sadly "all to yourself" means without children for the time being. If this is a challenge, please get in touch with the committee.) - Please visit the new link on the toy library website to book your individual time on our new session calendar (https://calendly.com/hillstoylibrary/browse-borrow) - During your session, the volunteer will accompany you around to the shed at the side of the library (where we stored our ride-on toys) where you will need to clean your toys and leave them in the shed. (The toys will remain in the shed until Tuesday afternoon, giving the toys at least 48 untouched hours before they are returned to the library space) - You then have the rest of your session time to select and borrow toys.15 minutes can be a bit quick, so we encourage you to check out the library's catalogue via Mibase - every member has an account, and the site is very good at telling you your details if you click, "Forgot your password" - https://hills.mibase.com.au/mem/login.php On this site you can search the toy library catalogue, including seeing photos of toys you might like and, more importantly, what is currently not on loan and you can directly find on the shelf. - Caitlin from the committee is taking the first shift this Wednesday morning, so if you have any queries, feel free to call the library on 8339 1244 We know this "one at a time" procedure is very different, however we hope this is a way we can keep our precious families safe while still providing wonderful toys! Thanks so much for your patience and please stay safe!

06.01.2022 Not sure how we'd fit this in the ride-on shed... https://returntonow.net//adult-version-of-the-little-tike/

05.01.2022 A wonderful old picture from the vaults of the Adelaide Hills Council featuring our lovely building back in its days as a "new" library!

05.01.2022 While not surprising, it's still disappointing to see this community event has had to be cancelled (especially as we were going to be there to share some cheer) - but in the meantime, please stay safe and we look forward to reopening soon!

05.01.2022 Dear SS Noah soft play set, I have a few questions... Uh, why do you need to bring hippopotamuses and crocodiles on the boat? Wouldn't they be okay in a water-based setting? And you know there's not going to be the pitter-patter of lion cub feet any time soon, yeah?

05.01.2022 I would really hate for you to miss out on this awesome event. We have just a handful of tickets left, so get in quick before it is too late! Tickets will not be sold on the day...

04.01.2022 Plenty of people at the Messy Play day have been asking about our soapy slime, so here's the recipe: 1 cup Lux soap flakes 3 cups boiling water Food colouring... Let it set a bit overnight, but that's pretty much it! If you don't include colouring the best way to dispose of it is to throw it in the bath for the Best. Bubbles. Ever.

That's right, well be manning/womaning the BBQ at Bunnings Mount Barker on Sunday 24th January from 8am until 5pm.
