23.01.2022 This week I'm playing with fire! The topic today is the power of prayer in fighting fear. As my lovely daughter pointed out, even when I have my prayer shield in place in the video, the flame still flickers a little bit. If your child notices this, use it as an opportunity to talk further about the topic. Ideas such as covering yourself in prayer, or praying for a hedge of protection might be useful. Prayer is powerful!

23.01.2022 Our Children's Co-ordinator, Stacey, is joined by her daughters, Bella and Matilda, for her Easter update. You can check out their discussion around the theme of 'salvation' and more, here!

21.01.2022 Today we're talking about cleaning! Everyone's favourite topic! If you want to discuss the idea of God cleansing us from our sin with your children, a really impactful way can be to use the following activity. Ask your child to think about something they've done or said or thought that they're ashamed of. Have them write it down (or draw a picture if they prefer) but they don't have to show anyone.... Take the piece of paper they've written on (making sure you can't see the writing) and destroy it in front of them (either ripping it, or burning it safely, or by some other means.) Ask them how relieved they feel, and explain that this is what God does with our sin because He loves us. Have a great week.

17.01.2022 Today I'm talking about our true colours. (Try not to get the song stuck in your head! ) If you want to discuss this further with your children, the following questions might be a good starting point; - Do you have qualities others don't see?... - How does it make you feel to know that God sees everything about you, even the things that others don't? - What do you think about the idea that others have qualities that you can't see? Would that change how you think about them, or talk to them? If you have older children, you might find the attached Johari window image helpful in discussing the topic in more depth. Have a great week allowing your true colours to shine through!

16.01.2022 Fred's birthday presents this week got me thinking about the gifts of the Spirit and why we are given them. If you talk to your children about this topic, it's really great to remind them that Christians can often operate in many of these gifts at certain times, even if they are not the "main" thing we feel we're gifted in. (For example, God can give any of us a word of prophecy, even though we're not all called to be prophets.) Also, there is no age limit! God wants to give ...good gifts to all of us, young and old, so that we can serve and bless each other. Have a lovely week!

14.01.2022 Tilly joins in for a little chat about the power of our words! If you want to talk more about this topic with your family at home, maybe you could work together on making a poster with the acronym from the video on it. You could also spend some time reading some scriptures about controlling the tongue. This link will take you to a whole list of them. ... https://www.openbible.info/topics/taming_your_tongue Remember that the Bible says in Luke 6:45 (and elsewhere) that we speak out of the abundance of our hearts, so the most important step in taming our mouths is spending time in God's presence and in His Word, so that our hearts are filled with good things. Blessings.

14.01.2022 Fred helps me talk about sinking and floating, and how adding faith can change everything! There are so many scriptures that you can look up with your children about the topic of faith, so I encourage you to find those and study them together. A great story to start with would be Peter walking on the water, focusing on how he started to sink when he took his eyes off Jesus.... Hope and pray that you feel faith building in your spirits this week! God bless.

13.01.2022 Sorry about the delay this week, but here's our latest video! Today we're talking about writing God's word on our hearts. If you want to read some Bible stories to your children (or they want to read some themselves) and aren't sure where to start, this link will take you to a list which is a great place to start.... https://www.openbible.info/labs/kids-bible-stories/ Have a great week.

12.01.2022 Bella and Tilly join me for a taste test today as we talk about the goodness of God. God is good. It is good and pleasant to be in His presence, but He also does us good when we allow Him to. Talking about God's goodness is often a starting point for discussions around pain, suffering and sadness.... Something I've been challenged about recently is the idea that we need to stop avoiding suffering and discomfort, as these are sometimes the tools God uses to do us good. (Just like we sometimes have to eat food we don't particularly like because it's good for us.) But His goodness is so great that He walks that journey with us, and helps us every step of the way! Bless you all this week.

11.01.2022 A little bit of silliness and a serious chat about hearing from God. Hope you're all having a great week.

10.01.2022 In the lead up to Easter, why not try making a resurrection garden with your kids? We loved letting our imaginations run free with this activity, using stuff we already had at home. Ours included an empty tomb with a large rock at the entrance, a hill with three crosses, a pool of water and plenty of other small and meaningful details. It was a lovely way to chat about the meaning behind different parts of the Easter story. Google will provide a wealth of inspiration if you want some more ideas. (Thanks to PS Sally Pearce for initially introducing me to this idea a couple of years ago, thanks to Covid 19 we've FINALLY got around to trying it! )

09.01.2022 This week's topic is anger. I have provided some suggestions in the video about how to deal with anger, but the important thing is to find something that works for you. If your child is struggling with their temper, having this conversation about what will work for them can be really helpful. Remember, feeling angry is not sinful!... Bless you heaps. Stacey

07.01.2022 This week we're talking about foundations - what are you building your life on?

07.01.2022 Who are you following on your journey through life?

05.01.2022 I would like to sincerely apologise for the lack of videos in the last two weeks. I've been having some massive technical issues, but am really hoping to have things sorted out as soon as possible. In the meantime, please enjoy the rest of this long weekend and try to get out into God's wonderful creation if the weather allows! God bless. ...

04.01.2022 This week, Bella and her school friend Jaeda take a funny look at what it would be like if we talked to each other like we sometimes talk to God. The subject of prayer is a huge one! But if you're talking about it with your children, the most important message to get across is that our prayers don't have to be perfect, the crucial thing is that we spend time with Jesus, because He's our friend. He does, however, give us a guide for how to pray, so that our prayers can become ...more powerful and effective, which can be useful, especially if we don't know where to start. I encourage you to pray together with your children, let them hear you engaging with Jesus in lots of different ways and situations, as that's the best way for them to learn. God bless you all, have a great week.

04.01.2022 It has been so lovely to see so many of our friends again at kids church in the last couple of weeks, as well as some new faces! If you haven't been back to Kids church yet, we'd love it if you'd join us this Sunday.

02.01.2022 A story about bushwalking and a lesson about staying on the right path! If you and your family are going bushwalking, you might like to use this prayer walk scavenger hunt sheet. There are some good ideas here for how to incorporate prayer as you're enjoying God's wonderful creation.... Blessings.

01.01.2022 Today, Fred's helping me to demonstrate the concept of the Trinity. If you discuss this further with your children, remember to emphasise that it's ok not to understand. That won't block us from being in relationship with the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. There are plenty of great craft ideas online to extend the learning about our 3-in-1 God, have fun with it!... God bless you all, have a great week.

01.01.2022 Today we're talking about darkness and light. If you want to delve deeper into this topic with your children, make sure to remind them that there is no shame in Christ Jesus, He loves us despite the sin in our lives. Have a great week. God bless.

01.01.2022 Bella and Tilly take over this week for a Mother's Day themed post. Happy Mother's Day!
