18.01.2022 We are excited! One month to go til the Aussie Backyard Bird Count! Australia’s largest annual bird count event is back for its 7th year! Held between 192...5 October, the Aussie Backyard Bird Count is a great way to connect with the birds in your backyard, no matter where your backyard happens to be. You can count in a suburban backyard, a local park, a patch of forest, down by the beach, or the main street of town. In fact, you don't even have to leave home, making it the ultimate Covid-safe activity! To take part all you need is 20 minutes and your favourite outdoor space. Not only will you be contributing to BirdLife Australia's knowledge of Aussie birds, but there are also some great prizes on offer. Head over to the Aussie Backyard Bird Count website and register as a Counter today! https://aussiebirdcount.org.au/ The yearly bird count gives us a snapshot in time of bird numbers around the nation so if you’ve participated before and are raring to go remember the app doesn’t kick in until the count begins on 19 October (one month to go!). #AussieBirdCount See more

14.01.2022 Today I joined Dan Andrews to outline our roadmap out of lockdown. Importantly it includes some significant announcements for schools and early childhood servic...es I want to share with you. Students will begin returning to school next term in a careful, staged approach. For the first week of Term 4, all students will continue to learn remotely, except senior secondary students doing VCE/VCAL essential assessments on-site and, for VCE students, the General Achievement Test (GAT) on 7 October. Students in regional and rural specialist schools can continue to attend on-site. From 12 October, metropolitan Melbourne students in Prep to Grade 2, VCE and VCAL and specialist schools will return to on-site learning. Teachers will only need to be on-site to deliver classes if their students are, or to provide supervision for students who need to attend on-site. Otherwise they are able to work from home. All regional and rural Victorian students will return to on-site learning from 12 October. Schools will have local flexibility to determine the best staged approach for different year levels, with all students to be back on-site by Friday 16 October. Students in Years 3 to 10 in metropolitan Melbourne will continue remote and flexible learning, with a decision on their on-site return to be made based on future health data and expert public health advice. Early childhood education and care will be open to all children from 28 September, with parents/carers no longer requiring a permit. Sessional kindergarten will be open for all children to attend at the start of Term 4, and eligibility for outside school hours care attendance will continue to align with schools. I know how hard this period has been on everyone. I want to take this opportunity to thank all our brilliant school and early childhood staff, parents, carers and most importantly students.
13.01.2022 A reminder that a FREE parent workshop will run on our curriculum day this Friday September 4th 5:00 6:30pm. Bryan Jeffrey is a Registered Psychiatric Nurse, and since 1995 has been employed in a range of senior clinical p...ositions in Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and Adult Mental Health in Scotland, and latterly in Melbourne, Australia. You can find out more about Bryan Jeffery at his website http://www.moat.com.au/ Register for the parent workshop with your name (please invite other family members/friends if you believe this will support their family) by emailing [email protected] by September 3rd.

05.01.2022 Wearing a face covering is a small action but it can make a big difference. And its one of those things where the more people do it, the exponentially bigger... that difference becomes. Thats why Victorias Chief Health Officer is making it a requirement not just a recommendation. Heres how itll work: If you live in metro Melbourne or Mitchell Shire and you need to leave home for one of the four essential reasons, you must have a covering over your mouth and nose. If youre travelling into regional Victoria for work or care reasons, that covering will need to remain on for the entire time youre there. If you live in regional Victoria, youll need to wear a face covering if you visit metro Melbourne or Mitchell Shire and were still recommending you wear one in your local area if you cant physically distance. There are a few exceptions. Kids under 12, those who have a professional or medical reason or if its just not practical, like when youre out running. In our schools, thatll mean teachers dont have to wear a face covering while teaching but students attending for VCE, VCAL or for onsite supervision will. Everyone will be expected to wear one on the way to and from school. This requirement wont be enforced until 11:59pm on Wednesday 22 July to give people a chance to buy or make a covering but if you already have one, please start wearing it now. And if you dont have a mask, a scarf is better than nothing. As with everything, this shouldnt be about looking for loopholes. Its about each of us doing something small to keep everyone around us safe. If Im wearing a covering, Im helping to protect you. If youre wearing one, youre helping to protect me. And if we all wear one, were all doing our bit to slow the spread.
