13.01.2022 COVID19 impacted Weddings significantly, government restrictions continue this impact with unclear parameters and stringent restrictions that have debilitated future planning. On behalf of Couples and Business #saveourweddings. This petition is requesting our STATE Governments (namely NSW, VIC, QLD and SA) provide a roadmap for Weddings to future-proof Couples and the Industry from any further financial losses, and ensure restrictions on Weddings align with all other communit...y interactions and practices. Namely: NSW, QLD & SA - enabling dancing for the Couple and Bridal Party (up to 20 ppl) and basic mingling. VIC- A roadmap for 2021 Weddings to future proof bookings for over 50 guests. The Wedding Industry is operating at a 10-15% capacity due to the current restrictions with over 85% of Couples postponing for the 3rd time- Weddings take 14 months to plan, with no clear future guidelines how can one plan? Here are our suggestions presented to Government, feel free to add your points below; 1. Allow increments of 20 minutes x 3 on the dancefloor with a 4 sqm rule (25% of attendance) And/Or 2. Allow for up to 20 people to dance at the wedding including Bridal Party and Parents And/Or 3. Once seated in the glorious Grandview room, official proceedings will get underway with a two-course meal, wine and entertainment. The keynote address will be delivered by former Ironside student Robert Macklin (alumni and Dux, 1955) who is an accomplished author, journalist and screenwriter. Amongst the 29 books he has written - biography, fiction, non-fiction - is an intriguing tale of life in St. Lucia/Taringa/Indooroopilly area in the 1950s called War Babies - A Memoir. Other highlights include special guest musicians, a showcase of Ironside's history through photographs and memories from Ironside alumni. Akash Rooney (alumni and school captain, 2011) and Hal Chandler (alumni, 2011) and fellow musicians from his band, The Undercurrents, will entertain us following the official proceedings.
