16.01.2022 Meet Jethro Pidd, our Junior & Junior Youth Tutor at Hills Youth Theatre. Jethro is a passionate and dedicated Drama and Dance teacher. He has been involved in theatre for 25 years between Adelaide, Perth and Tasmania as an actor, singer, director and choreographer and is currently training to become a fight director with the Society of Australian Fight Directors. His on-stage highlights include Spamalot (2010) and Beauty and the Beast (2011) both with Northern Light Theatre ...Company, Batboy (2010) with Hills Musical Company, Legally Blonde (2015) with 9 Lives Theatre Company and Wonderful World (2018) with Melville where he was fortunate enough to receive an award for Best Supporting Male in a Play from the Independent Theatre Association WA (ITA). In 2016 Jethro was given the opportunity to make his directorial debut at the Koorliny Arts Centre with his all-time favourite show Spamalot which went on to receive six nominations from the ITA. Outside of theatre, Jethro has a beautiful and supportive young family, who he hopes to involve in the Hills Youth Theatre community. Jethros teaching philosophy is about creating an understanding of how important the arts are for the development of our children whilst creating a safe and respectful space to have fun and enjoy theatre and is thrilled to be teaching at HYT.

15.01.2022 We are so delighted to be able to recommence classes and thank the Stirling Community Theatre and Adelaide Hills Council for their support during this time. Seniors, Youth and Senior Youth Classes will recommence week beginning June 1st. Junior Youth and Junior Classes are planned to recommence week beginning June 8th.... We are looking forward to seeing everyone back at the theatre for classes over the next 2 weeks AND the announcement of our show for January 2021! 14.01.2022 Meet Ben Proeve, one of our Tutors Assistants at Hills Youth Theatre. Ben Proeve has been involved with HYT since 2014, first as a student as then as a Tutor's Assistant in the Junior and Junior Youth classes from 2019. He names 'Snow White and the Many Dwarves' and '1918: The Untold Story' as his favourite productions as a student, and 'The Story of Aladdin' as a Tutor's Assistant. It was performing with HYT that first helped him realise his love for the theatre, and he has... since performed with other companies in Adelaide, such as Deadset Theatre Company and the Stirling Players, and has begun to delve into aspects of theatre, including writing and lighting design. He also has a great interest in teaching, leading to his pursual of a career in high school drama (and maths) teaching, which he is studying towards at Flinders University. He thoroughly enjoys being able to live out and combine his passions for theatre and education at HYT. "I have always believed that education empowers young people, and theatre provides them with a place to have a voice and explore their creativity, so it is so rewarding to see young, aspiring performers discover themselves and grow as people, both on and off the stage at HYT." Hayley has been involved with Adelaides theatre community for 25+ years, first treading the boards at the Stirling Community Theatre with HYT in 1993. She has been a producer and arts manager for various professional companies including State Theatre Company SA and Urban Myth Theatre of Youth as well as producing shows for the Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Adelaide Fringe Festival and other independent performing ar...ts projects. As a director for both plays and musicals, highlights include the multi-award-winning productions God of Carnage, for Stirling Players, and Spring Awakening, for the Hills Musical Company. Favourite performance roles include Julie in Cosi and Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls among many others around Adelaide. Hayley values the opportunity to develop the skills and discipline of the young people she works with, as well as foster a love of theatre, further cementing her commitment to the performing arts programs at her home of the SCT.

07.01.2022 We are excited to announce that HYT has been nominated for two Adelaide Theatre Guide Awards! Congratulations to Michelle Stewart for being nominated for 'Best young female performer' for her portrayal of Mrs Shultz in "1918- The Untold Story". "Seven Little Australians" has been nominated for 'Best Youth Show'. Congratulations to director Di Mason, and to all involved in this fantastic production. ... We can't wait to celebrate at the ATG awards this September. Such wonderful news for HYT!!!
