24.01.2022 A little bit of background on the Hillview Stud: It all started with family friends who owned a station approximately 300km north of the Hillview property where conditions were harsh at times which meant needing resilient stock. The station owner took Peter (Frog) Holmes, Hillview Dohne Principle across to the Glenlea Dohne Merino Stud sale, Western Australia. Frog could see the advantages for the high fertility rate, high quality wool produce and the rapid growth rate, this ...is where the seed was planted for the Hillview Dohne Merino Stud. In 2006, Peter & Heather held their first on-property sale with the guidance of Alex & Lyn Leach, Principles of Glenlea Dohne Stud, the oldest Dohne Merino Stud in Australia. Their focus was to breed sires with the dual-purpose qualities for their clientele. Since then, they have made many changes and improvements in developing their stud. Heather and Robert speak passionately about the dohne merino breed and show pride in their stud. They hope to continue to improve their breeding line for their new and returning clients. See more
