19.01.2022 Temporary speed detectors are coming to Hillwood The Hillwood Progress Association Inc (HPA) represents your area on the George Town Council Safety Committee. They have been lobbying to get the speed limits reviewed primarily to get some consistency on our roads. The Council has commissioned an independent traffic management consultant to investigate and at the Safety Committee Meeting this week, an update was given that there will be speed detectors placed on Leam Road, Johnstons Road and Hillwood Jetty Road temporarily. They do not record individual vehicle details but are used to aggregate the speeds. Once the report has been finalised, the HPA has been assured that there will be community consultation before recommendations are sent to the State Department of Growth.
18.01.2022 Back in 1969, this happened just across the river at Swan Point. Wouldn't it be so much fun to have hovercrafts in service along the river today

10.01.2022 This dog is hanging around the footy ground barking at the girls training and being a bit of a nuisance. It bit the senior coach last Thursday at training. Does anyone know who owns it?

Delivery distributors are desperately needed for the Hillwood area. Please contact Jon Hosford at [email protected] or on 6328 1163 or 0419 317 808 if you can help out. ** The Hillwood Progress Association Inc is seeking two volunteers to fill Committee Member positions preferably with a passion for Funding and Grant Applications and/or Event Management. The Committee meets every second month and is focused on improving our local area for the betterment of all. 06.01.2022 Hillwood Berries Farmgate (aka the Berry Farm) have a TFS permit to burn off all the native vegetation that they recently wiped out between the East Tamar Highway and Hillwood Road and it looks like the thick smoke will be continuing to blanket the area for another week according to their fire permit. It's very difficult to support a local business when you can't find them in the smoke! FYI this information has not been supplied by the Berry Farm. EDIT - This is not a controlled burn off to reduce the potential fire hazard in a bush setting - there should be more of them! The fires being burnt in Hillwood is from the burning of cleared land that was cleared solely for commercial purposes.
04.01.2022 The Hill(wood)s are alive with the sound of music
01.01.2022 A pair of dark blue Bose earphones were lost in the Hillwood Memorial Hall carpark last week on Thursday or Friday. Please send a message if you have found them as the owner would love to have them returned.
