01.01.2022 CHED NEPAL'S FUNDRAISING DINNER(www.chednepal.org ) What is ChEd Nepal? ChEd Nepal is an Australian charity that supports the Mitrata Organisation in Nepal. Mitrata is an NGO that operates a boarding hostel which supports the education of underprivileged children in the district of Sindhupalchowk, about three to four hours outside of Kathmandu city. We have visited there several times and have been amazed by their incredible work with children. Mitrata provides educational op...portunities to children from disadvantaged families living in remote areas of the district, particularly those who are unable to attend a school in their local community for reasons of locality or financial hardship. For the period of time the children are boarded at the hostel, they attend the nearby local lower secondary school up to Year 10. They are provided with clothes, school uniforms and supplies, as well as food, shelter and health services. Once the children have successfully completed Year 10, further assistance is available to help them attend college and complete their education up to Year 12. This program has so far been successful and some students have now completed Year 12 making their employment prospects much brighter. Where will the proceeds from the event go? All proceeds from the event will go to establishing a library for the children of the local government school, Golma Devi, and assisting with community projects in an area devastated by last year’s earthquakes.
