Tyres are the most important thing as they transmit all your acceleration, cornering and braking to the road. You may have the best car on the road but without the correct tyres to transmit your inputs to the road it will not perform and in some cases be dangerous. Some reasons why you might need to replace your tyres are punctures, wear, age or damage. By law you need to replace tyres when they wear to the Australian government’s set minimum tread depth. The depth by law is at least 1.5mm deep and if your tread goes below that amount you can be fined by the police for driving on those tyres. The average life span of tyres depends on the tyre, but the general accepted rule is that if your tyres are more than 5 years old then you need to start checking them once a year and if your tyres are more than 10 years old then they need to be replaced.
