25.01.2022 Fingerprints (partially healed fractures) in #ruby and #sapphire often develop glassy discoids and cloudy areas when they are heated. In the first photo here, w...e have a fingerprint in an untreated #Madagascar sapphire, with many small negative crystal channels showing no signs of heat alteration. However, in the second image of a heated sapphire, one can clearly see that each of the negative crystal channels has burst from the heat treatment. Also note the glassy circular "discoid" fissures.
