25.01.2022 Well, my first NEWLYWEDS/HONEYMOONERS TOUR to Wallaman Falls on the weekend was just beaut - lovely couple and wonderful weather, can't wait to see the photos! In other news, I will be scoping a new destination, perfect for croc-spotting, later on in the week and I'm excited at the prospect of expanding my range and really exploring the lesser known attractions in our region. And in social media news... WE JUST REACHED 300 LIKES!! What amazing support, thank you all. Watch this space for our first FACEBOOK GIVEAWAY in the near future - my way of giving back to this wonderful community. Have a good week everyone - I'll have some photos of Sunday's Wallaman tour and my new must-see destination for you soon.
24.01.2022 LOOKING FOR SOME-THING FUN TO DO THIS WEEKEND???? Back when the cane was cut by hand, cutting gangs swelled the population of the town arriving via train. The c...ane cutters had no means of transport, so enterprising folk set up small businesses to cater for their new pedestrians. One of the most appreciated businesses, were the pubs. These small settlements were quite viable towns, and during the slack, it was still handy for the farmers to collect mail, and purchase groceries. However......with the arrival of mechanical harvesting, reliable cars bigger cheaper shopping centres, small shops became redundant. The farmers still continued to call into the pubs for a beer and a yarn, resulting in the pubs remaining still to this day, the social centre of town. See more
24.01.2022 It's happening! After months of planning, Hinchinbrook Day Tours are launching our new range of "mini-tours" this weekend at the Australian Italian Festival. I'll be at Tyto Precinct on Saturday with a bus big enough for 20, and there will be three departure times to choose from. We've got a great little tour lined up for you all, perfect for the young and young-at-heart. A great way to break up the day after you've been at the festival - see some spectacular scenery, absorb the history and culture, snack on a scone and hear some good local stories (most of them true!) before returning to the festival for more food, fun and festivities! I hope to see you all there - tell your friends and family!!
24.01.2022 We are live! Mary's review features too!! http://www.hinchinbrookway.com.au///hinchinbrook-day-tours
22.01.2022 Well here i am again ,this is starting to become a habit .I have just posted on Ingham events page offering a pub crawl round the district instead of a static Christmas party ,travel from pub to pub by bus ,have a drink while mobile between pubs ,a total of eight pubs and no problems with drink driving . If that sounds allright with you ,give me a yell on 0427665576. I will get the literary bent before Christmas but just in case i wish every one a very happy and safe Christmas.
22.01.2022 Thank you Roanne from 9 News North Queensland. Come and Experience the Hinchinbrook Way today!
22.01.2022 What a pleasure it was taking Mary on a tour of our picturesque district last weekend - she is such a talented photographer and found plenty of inspiration throughout the day. I was just so touched when she wrote this review for me and I had to share it with you all. Thank you Mary - anytime!
21.01.2022 Been over here in the west for a week now ,had a good trip over ,a bit warm 43 degrees in Dirrimbandi ,got caught in a thunder storm on the black soil plains between Louth and Wilcannia, spent quite a lot of the journey traveling side ways and backwards there. Got held up by a bushfire and had to spend the night at Madura, got lost between Norseman and Lake King but apart from that it was a pretty uneventful trip. Summer has been forgotten about over here ,a hot day is around twenty degrees. The good thing about it is that 4x gold travels well and tastes the same over here.
21.01.2022 Looking forward to our very first NEWLYWEDS' TOUR to Wallaman Falls tomorrow, with the very recently married Pizzi couple. We're swapping billy tea and scones for champagne and strawberries and we've got a lovely surprise 'smoko' planned. Fingers crossed the rain stays away, but something tells me Love Will Be In The Air no matter what with these two lovebirds. Gosh, when did I become such a softie...
19.01.2022 I thought QLD made em bigger - here's proof https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1395114283834061&id=135107816501387
19.01.2022 As I gear up for a tour to Blenco Falls tomorrow, I can't help but get excited every time I take visitors to the Shire to a breath taking natural attraction that they could never have imagined. Like Sawako, a lovely young Japanese tourist who I had the privilege of guiding some weeks ago. She appreciated the natural attractions as much as the history and the stories, and we enjoyed a truly lovely experience. I can't wait to share my #HinchinbrookWay again tomorrow - take care folks!

16.01.2022 I swear, I'll stop spamming you soon - but how fantastic does this trip look?!
15.01.2022 Well I'm no professional photographer and my phone doesn't do this prehistoric reptile justice, but I caught 'Big Bruce' of Dangercamp out for a swim and lounging around on his two favourite banks this morning so I had to take a few snaps. Bruce only hangs about this area for a few months of the year but that happens to be now, so for anyone thinking about a tour this weekend during the festival rest assured I'll take you to this exact spot to see if you're lucky enough to get a glimpse of Bruce.
15.01.2022 G'day all! Are you enjoying this heat as much as I am? :-P I've got something a little different to share with you all today, but it's something I care deeply about and so I hope you humour me and consider the following... As one of the very few tourism operators in the beautiful Hinchinbrook Shire, I've been blessed to received guidance and support from many people in the community for which I am very grateful. But there is one particular young lady who has gone above and ...beyond to help my business, and the wider community, for nearly two years now, and that is Rachael Coco. Rachael has worked with me on everything from Product Development to Marketing Strategies. She has designed posters, brochures and even this page for me! She has expanded my network vastly with her extensive connections and has pointed me in the direction of relevant grants and training and information sessions. Rachael was even the person responsible for my story with Roanne Boldery on Win News NQ - exposure I am truly thankful for. At the end of the day, it is rare to encounter someone who is so willing to devote themselves to helping others succeed. And now she has put her hand up to run the Hinchinbrook Chamber of Commerce and I say "YOU LITTLE BEAUTY!" Rachael is unquestionably the best candidate for the job and will prove a greater asset to both the Chamber and the Shire if elected as President. Candidate Trina Gonzalez, who is running for Vice President, will have my vote also, and I'm pleased to see Catherine Hunt running for Treasurer again. I encourage all Chamber members to vote for Rachael at next week's AGM, and all business owners who have ever considered joining Chamber to do so now. With this young lady in charge, I am confident we will see a revitalised and relevant Chamber of Commerce in the new year. That's it! That's all I wanted to say - all 16,852 words :-) Take it easy everybody and we'll talk again soon.

12.01.2022 If you're interested in coming up for the fishing classic or just the dinner, why not book a day tour? We are about to launch the Sweet as Sugar Experience - watch this space. So much to see and do in the Hinchinbrook region https://m.facebook.com/events/1762307657340794?acontext=%7B%22ref%22%3A%223%22%2C%22action_history%22%3A%22null%22%7D&aref=3
11.01.2022 Well ive had this face book mob on to me to write a post, as so many people havent heard from me in a while .Got to thinkin what do i know a bit about that i can write about and perhaps make a trip out of ,then came up with a bit of pure brilliance. PUBS.Who knows more about the inside of pubs than me? So a couple of lovely ladies st off on a trip from water hole to water hole in the beautiful Ingham district. First stop,Lees hotel the original pub with no beer. A great water...ing hole cold beer and super friendly staff, the walls are festooned with old photos and a copy of the original poem of the pub with no beer ,penned by a pissed off local,mr Shehan after walking all the way to town only to find that the yanks had drunk the pub dry . This by the way was during the second world war when even beer was rationed . We then moved on too the Ashton hotel out at long pocket. This has always been a favorite with me as one is welcomed like a long lost friend and this welcome is extended to every one who visits. Long Pocket was quite a large settlement in the early days with fettlers houses at the cane rail siding ,a bakehouse ,post office and store. Motor cars were the downfall of these little towns with workers being able to live in Ingham and drive to the isolated sidings. Any how on with the story of pubs The Ashton is the epitome of a super friendly country pub with cold beer and a beautiful meal. Dan Shehan must have walked or ridden past here when he went on to discover the pub had no beer in Ingham, perhaps the yanks had drunk it dry as well. A scenic drive to the Bruce highway and a right turn takes us to Bemerside and super informative and friendly mine host , Doug Barry runs the seymore hotel. Doug is a history buff and the the walls are lined with photos and documents of days past as well as an eye opening meter of past flood levels on the outside wall. This area also was quite a large town with several sugar mills close to it. We move on to Halifax another historic town and have a refresher at the local and a yarn to the publican and have a look at the very well set up museum , best we call in to waterhole for one for the road then move on to Lucinda with its five kilometer long jetty and giant sugar sheds . from Lucinda we drive through the canefields to the Forrest beach hotel and enjoy the sea front vista . A great beer and feed is to be had here . We are now back in town and at the station hotel run by Dulcie Harvey for over fifty years ,as a point of interest Dulcies parents had the lees hotel when Dan Shehan went dry ,spat the dummy and wrote a poem about the pub with no beer . Brandy the barmaid is also a character with heaps of orphaned joeys to cuddle if you want. Thats my post for a while and i am going to make a trip of it so come along and experience this fascinating area with me . I will have photos and a brochure of the trip next week so keep an eye out. Geez it feels like ive just written war and bloody peace See more
11.01.2022 Two new tourism experiences are offering unique, adventurous perspectives of the Hinchinbrook region. #9News | http://9News.com.au

09.01.2022 Good Morning! And what a great start to the day, getting to lay eyes on these fabulous photos of Lindsie and Stephen on our first ever NEWLYWEDS TOUR to Wallaman Falls. Many thanks to Tony's Foodland for the scrumptious platter and delicious strawberries to complement the organic wine from Cellarbrations. It wouldn't be fair not to give the biggest shout out in the world to Mary Vinnecombe for taking these photos - we are so grateful that you have lent us your talent once again.
08.01.2022 Welcome to Australia, where even the herbivores are badass! https://m.facebook.com//a.4458871421466/1118952511506799/
08.01.2022 Only been back from WA for a week or so but havent left the grass grow under my feet. A new sugar industry trip is happening and for the folks who feel like a drink on a hot day , i am going to do a trip round some of the pubs in the district. Lunch at one of the pubs will be included. There are brochures of the sugar industry trip in Tyto now and will soon have brochures of the district hotel trip in at the tyto information centre soon. I am in the throes of doing up a new website and when it comes out it will have all the trips in it plus a lot of features that arent in the old one . Any one want to do a camping trip up round the valley of lagoons and Ready brook? Give me a call and i will organise one.
06.01.2022 Gday.its been a day or two since i had a go at being a great novelist buggared if i know if its worth all the hard work, had to look in the dictionary to find out how to spell novelist but here goes. I had a couple of real good trips in September and i think October ,a group of four to Blencoe falls and back via the Seymore pub. Great passengers and a great time had by all.The next one was a lady who was teaching Japanese in Warrnabul. Majic lady ,great sense of humourand a re...al joy to travel with. Then i carried the pocket rocket to Wallaman and district .She walked a million miles at a million miles an hour with the shutter on her camera well and truly overheating. It was an honour to have you on a trip Trang. No doubt you are all well aware of christmas rushing toward us .Coles,Woolies ,radio and tv wont let us forget it.If you want a christmas drinkwith noo hassels from the local constabulary get a few friends together and do a local pub trip with me . you get to drink in around seven or eight locals ,have a feed and get dropped home at the end .I dont know if you are all aware or not but i am an expert on all these pubs after spending hours and hours of my preciouse time researching the product available in these locals there has never been a better reseacher than yours truly, for a reference you can contact the publicans at the Station,Forrest Beach,Halifaxor Lucinda pubs .I honestly have left no schooner unturned in my endeavors to find out all about these establishments . Get a party together and give me a ring .0427665576 and we will work on developing you a hangover. I will put pen to paper before the fatefull day on the 25 Dec but have a great Christmas See more
06.01.2022 I have been dieing to write this one up but wasn't alowed to post it until after the 11/02/18.Well it is long past the date now so here goes .A couple of weeks ago i took a delightful young couple from Cairns to Irvinebank to elope! The only people who knew about it were the bride and groom, marriage celebrant, photographer and me .The wedding was officiated on the banks of a secret dam, the wedding dinner at the Irvinebank pub and photos were taken everywhere. Rob and Ameral, I wish you both the very best you can wish yourselves. I don't think i have enjoyed a wedding as much .The last photo is a ripper! A town has to have a water supply but i reckon they could have put the main street some where else.
06.01.2022 I have said it before and am sure i will say it again .It is a great job being able to take passengers to these places . I had a fat time with the newly weds Lindsie and Steven. A beaut couple . Loved your company Lindsie and Steven .

05.01.2022 Fancy a cuppa and a scone? Come and visit me at the Tyto Markets today, there are plenty of great little stalls here and this will be their last market day of the year so don't miss out!
04.01.2022 All of the beautiful rain we've received has the falls looking exceptionally spectacular this summer....
04.01.2022 Starting Saturday! Don't miss out on your chance to visit Mungalla Station, Victoria Mill, the Homebush Steam Train and New Ingham Cemetary, and learn about their place in Ingham's history.
03.01.2022 It is a while since i have written any thing on this page. So here goes, another litery masterpiece on its way. Have had a couple of pub trips in the last month or so. One was a birthday for a lady .(i wont say how old the boiler was for fear of my life) To say the trip was lively is an understatement ,am still having trouble with my hearing, for a while i thought earthmoving gear was noisey it is quiet and soothing compared to a dozen women. Took another trip out for an eigh...tieth birth day,it wasnt quite as boisterous but had a real enjoyable day. thank you Don and family i realy enjoyed your company. Gill elliott and myselfe went up to Blencoe falls last week and as usual the falls and drive were beautiful but i am afraid i cant say the same for the road ,it is horific to say the least ,if it were in the south east there would be a freeway up to it but i guess that is the price one pays for living in the best part of the state. We managed to get there and back never the less and i realy enjoyed your company Gill and learned a lot about the country in that area .The greatest satisfaction one gets out of this job is still in meeting the people who are traveling with me . And girls i did enjoy my day out with you all and would do it all again tomorrow. See more
03.01.2022 This magical spot is just minutes up the road. I already enjoy taking folks up to Blencoe Falls - who would like to see the Spa Pools added to the itinerary? Mostyn M-dawg Swain might be interested in the photographic opportunities. (Nudge nudge wink wink!)
03.01.2022 What does everyone think of my new promo materials for the markets? Mary's photography is very impressive in my humble opinion
03.01.2022 Getting all excited ,have a job to Walllaman falls on Sunday. With the rain we have had the falls should be roaring
02.01.2022 No doubt that you have been reading of the proposed new sugar industry trip . Well , here is the sweetest part . It is now a goer . Pick up in Ingham have a look at the crushing machinery at Tyto and move on out to a cane farm. The farmer will meet us and talk on the farming of sugar cane . He will also speak on the way farmers look after the land , regardless of what the media has to say ,farmers are real greenies as far as their land is concerned ,after all it is their livi...ng and they want to see the reef in pristine condition when their grand children visit. We may also see crocodiles in the wild in one of the waterholes on the property . From the farm we will go to the Halifax museum where there is an extensive display of old photos and artifacts from the early days of cane farming . From Halifax we go to Lucinda to have a look at the port faclities and have a lunch of fish and chips from the Lucinda store , the best fish and chips made. See more
02.01.2022 Gus is at the Australian Italian Festival waiting for his next tour to depart. Make sure you EXPLORE, EXPERIENCE and ENJOY the Hinchinbrook with Hinchinbrook Day Tours this weekend. Love to have you aboard!
