This idea is a key foundation in HIPPY. By listening to their thoughts and feelings, we show that we value their contributions and their dignity as a person. By letting them make age appropriate decisions and express themselves, we empower them to be active and thoughtful citizens. With the challenges of Covid, we’ve managed to find new ways to continue to deliver home visits over the phone to make hippy part of our daily routine and support our hippy kids learning in their home environment. VAEAI is providin...g 7 free online Professional Development sessions for kindergarten teachers, delivered by Aboriginal Educators with expertise in Early Childhood Education. If you are a teacher working within a Kindergarten program and want to learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, history and cultures and how to embed Indigenous perspectives within your practice, this is the PD for you! Sessions cover: How to make connections with local Koorie communities Exploration of appropriate resources Hands on practical experiences Valuing the place of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Australia is an essential component of both the Victorian Early Years Learning Development Framework (VEYLDF) and the National Quality Standard in Early Childhood Education (ACEQA). Our sessions are also relevant to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers: Focus Areas 1.4 and 2.4. If you have a 4 year old child that you would like to sign up to our Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters (HIPPY) please contact Jean Miller on 0437 171 592. Limited places available. Children must enrol at four years age to be eligible for the five year old program. -Learn how to confidently become your child's first teacher in your home environment and prepare them for ...school -Hippy is a free program and we will provide fun activities for you and your child -We hold fun events and celebrations and provide connection to community -It is one hour a week of your time with tutor (also a parent on the HIPPY program) -10 to 15 minutes each night with your child -meet up with tutor wherever it suits you (your home, lullas, save the children shepparton office, save the children kindergarten, coffee shop, park) -no one can fail HIPPY -potential to become a paid tutor yourself next year - you have nothing to lose, but so much to gain. Enrolment cut off date is fast approaching!
