15.01.2022 The HRIA is a proud supporter of the #Golocalfirst campaign. We are a nation of close-knit communities and the importance of small local business in maintaining the strong bonds which bind our communities, large and small, together cannot be overestimated. Many HRIA members are small local businesses and the current situation has been tough on many. ... Hardworking local businesses keep our communities going. Local business is everyones business. We encourage our members to support the campaign Go Local First and courage your local community to do the same.

14.01.2022 Help Save the Events Industry. The Events Industry should not be confused with hospitality retail. Driving over $35 billion into the economy, the Events Industry and businesses who supply to the industry, have largely been forgotten. This is despite being the first industry to be impacted, and the last industry to be able to resume due to the restrictions associated with Coronavirus lockdowns.... Event People are resilient however, with no clear guidelines provided for either indoor or outdoor events, there is no way for our businesses to plan to re-open in a #covidnormal and #covidsafe. The events industry is structured and planned we are prepared. As the HRIA continues to lobby for the events industry we would also encourage our members to review and sign the petition below. The voice of our events industry is stronger when united. https://www.change.org/p/victorian-governement-savevicevent

11.01.2022 Go Local First Australians are being urged to do their bit to help the economic recovery by buying locally from small businesses in their communities in a nationwide campaign being delivered by the Council of Small Business Organisations Australia (COSBOA).... As a COSBOA member the HRIA is sharing this tool kit with members to enable them to use in their local communities. 08.01.2022 Member webinar series continues next week with our Technology Webinar - Business Continuity The hire industry is naturally rooted in physical assets operating in physical environments yet like all businesses, technology is now a foundation upon which it’s operations lie. In the past, business continuity, in the technology setting, has focussed upon what-ifs around physical events (fire, flood etc.) affecting business as usual operations.... If nothing else, the past 12 months has demonstrated that business continuity can be just as profoundly affected by events that may not have been traditionally expected nor planned for. Jason LeGuier (CEO Hotline IT) explores business continuity and business resilience in this new context examining risks, mitigation and the new normal of business operations now and into the future. Proudly brought to members by the HRIA Technology Innovation Partner - Point of Rental https://us02web.zoom.us//register/WN_hrT0O_x9Sz21ftomMq6sjg

04.01.2022 The Road to Recovery: Business and Industrys education and training needs post COVID-19 The COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on employment, required workplace skills and the nature of jobs of many Australian employees and workers. COSBOA (Council of Small Business Organisations Australia) is seeking help to establish which and how new skills should be provided, funded and acquired more quickly to ensure all Australians can participate and benefit from Australia...s successful business recovery during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. The research team needs to find out what has changed for working Australians regarding: The technical and generic skills you or your team members need, or need more of, since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic The optimal ways to address these skills needs in the next 12 months, including innovative approaches and possible government support packages. The research project needs the views of a broad range of Australian workers. If you are an Australian worker over the age of 18, you are invited to share your views. This survey has been approved and is conducted independently by Deakin University. This study has received Deakin University ethics approval (reference number: HAE-20-087). The research project is endorsed and overseen by the COSBOA/ACoP COVID-19 Business Recovery Council which directly advises the Prime Ministers National COVID-19 Coordination Commission. As a member of COSBOA the HRIA encourages their members to complete the survey here - https://researchsurveys.deakin.edu.au///SV_eWl1ZGDeexByzvT
