25.01.2022 There are numerous economic, environmental and safety advantages of renting equipment instead of buying. TAX BENEFITS Hiring equipment is fully tax deductable which makes good business sense especially during tougher economic conditions. By hiring, companies can offset outlays, recover some of their operational costs, and limit their overall capital equipment purchases.... THE LATEST EQUIPMENT When hiring you have access to a huge range of modern equipment. New equipment can be trialled without any capital outlay or the need to take on new debt. By choosing to hire from a HRIA member you are also ensuring equipment reliability and efficiency. WORK SMARTER & MORE EFFECTIVELY Once the job is finished, the equipment can be returned, without the worry of depreciation, repairs and maintenance and storage costs, or whether that piece of equipment will ever be used again. ENSURE SAFETY All rental equipment is thoroughly checked and maintained prior to each hire and electrically tested and tagged as required. Rental equipment is hired out complete with written operating instructions, warning decals and labels and support manuals. DO YOUR BIT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT Equipment that is purchased often sits unused for long period of time. In an era where resources are scarce and people are increasingly conscious of their carbon footprint, hiring makes sense for your business and the environment. Hiring is a smart alternative to buying outright and whether you a business or an individual, people are seeing the advantages of becoming more hire conscious. 24.01.2022 Member webinar series continues next week with our Technology Webinar - Business Continuity The hire industry is naturally rooted in physical assets operating in physical environments yet like all businesses, technology is now a foundation upon which it’s operations lie. In the past, business continuity, in the technology setting, has focussed upon what-ifs around physical events (fire, flood etc.) affecting business as usual operations.... If nothing else, the past 12 months has demonstrated that business continuity can be just as profoundly affected by events that may not have been traditionally expected nor planned for. Jason LeGuier (CEO Hotline IT) explores business continuity and business resilience in this new context examining risks, mitigation and the new normal of business operations now and into the future. Proudly bought to members by the HRIA Technology Innovation Partner - Point of Rental https://us02web.zoom.us//register/WN_hrT0O_x9Sz21ftomMq6sjg

23.01.2022 October is Safe Work Month, an initiative we at the HRIA strongly support. No one should be unsafe at work and no injury or death is acceptable. That is why each October businesses, employers and workers across Australia join together and commit to building safe and healthy workplaces for all Australians. This year’s theme, Work Health and Safety through COVID-19, acknowledges and reflects the wide-reaching impacts of COVID-19 on Australian businesses, employers and workers.... Workplaces have had to quickly adapt their practices and procedures to reduce the WHS risks arising from COVID-19 and to manage the psychological effects of the pandemic on workers. The National Safe Work Month theme highlights the WHS challenges, as well as the positive outcomes brought on by the pandemic and the significant role WHS plays in keeping workers safe and preventing the spread of COVID-19. The HRIA is at the forefront of best practice and safety. Whilst COVID-19 has changed everything, we continue to strive to offer support to our members that will assist in ensuring our industry remains strong once we get through this period of uncertainty. And even more so when it has to do with safety. To kick off Safe Work Month we are holding a webinar - reducing accidents in your hire operation where we will have a panel of presenters outlining how you can minimise the risks of accidents in your hire operation. We will then also wrap up the month with a webinar covering off secondary guarding systems for MEWPS. 16.01.2022 After the successful completion of the pilot HRIA Apprenticeship & Traineeship Scheme (HATS) earlier this year, the HRIA along with National Training Organisation and VERTO will be again offering HATS to HRIA, EWPA and TSHA Members in NSW. As a result of the recently announced Boosting Apprenticeship Commencements wage subsidy, not only does the HATS training cost continue to be subsidised by the NSW Government, there is now also a 50% wage subsidy for eligible employers of A...pprentices and Trainees. Designed to provide further education opportunities to staff working within the hire and rental industry, the HRIA Apprenticeship & Traineeship Scheme is based on the well-established qualification Certificate III in Business. The HRIA Apprenticeship & Traineeship Scheme has been designed to minimise the impact on the hire and rental business and the student. After expression of interest the entire process from determining eligibility, funding application and sign up to the program will be managed for you by our partner Verto. The face to face training sessions will take place over 5 or 6 days over a 12-month period. Details on HATS can be found on the Member section of the HRIA website - https://hireandrental.com.au//hria-apprenticeship-trainee/

16.01.2022 #WeMakeEvents is an international movement to highlight that the live events sector urgently needs support from local governments to survive the COVID-19 crisis. Entertainment events around the world have been devastated, from major festivals, tours and landmark theatres, to grassroots venues and business events. Without major immediate support from national governments, the entire supply chain is at risk of collapse. As the HRIA continues to lobby for the events industry we ...would also encourage our members to support our events members and the entire industry where they can. The voice of our industry is stronger when united. https://www.facebook.com/WeMakeEventsAus www.wemakeevents.com

10.01.2022 As a member of COSBOA the HRIA stands with all the other members supporting this open letter to the Premier of Victoria. COSBOA has today written an open letter calling for a meeting with the Victorian premier, Dan Andrews, to discuss a plan to reopen Victorian businesses in a COVID-safe way. Victoria has now achieved similar transmission rates to New South Wales, where businesses are allowed to open, and where there is a greater sense of normalcy. ... Businesses in Victoria, however, are still yet to be given a date for reopening. COSBOA members are reporting that many small businesses and their customers believe they will be able to reopen on the 19th of October next Monday and there is great concern for what will happen if this does not occur. There is also widespread frustration among industry associations due to lack of meaningful consultation with the Victorian Government. Read the full letter
