Nestled up in the hills above Cairns, it is exactly what it says it is: an historical village.... But nothing can prepare you for just how incredible the place is - detailed history, impeccably maintained, and concisely explained. Blown away! It’s amazing to find places like this - built on passion and dedication. Thank goodness there are people out there willing to shoulder the burden of preserving this history - we would be poorer should it be lost. 09.01.2022 A ride on the Tinlander train is an experience in itself. Operated by the Atherton-Herberton Historic Railway, the train runs from the Historic Village to the Heritage Railway station on Sundays and is an interesting 20 minute trip. We can’t wait until their beautiful, 1905 Peckett steam locomotive and wooden carriage will do the trip. Rides are $5 for adults, and $3 for children, with all monies going towards the volunteer organisation. ...
