24.01.2022 The Hilton family were our first visitors of the day. We are trialling Saturday morning openings to see if that time frame is better parents with young children.

23.01.2022 Watch this space; started another project at the museum today. Thanks to Dave Easton for donating his time and machine to prep for a concrete slab.

23.01.2022 Our first customers through the door today. Train buff Conor and his mum caught the train from their home and spent the morning checking out the trains. We are trialing morning openings on Saturdays which may suit young families better.

21.01.2022 With the curtain and blinds down in the parlour, the western light streams into the room. We are preparing for window tinting to be done next week.

18.01.2022 Crane action today at the Nambour Museum and next door at the new Hungry Jacks site. At the museum we lifted a second container into position for additional storage.

18.01.2022 It's all happening down at the museum! Can you hear the whistle going off?

18.01.2022 Another project completed today; the Foundation stone and Official Opening stone from the old Nambour Civic Hall now mounted at the front of the museum below the old Town Hall photo. As the stones are only on loan from the Council's heritage collection we had to come up with a way of securely displaying them without 'concreting' them in place. Project was funded by a Sunshine Coast Council Heritage Levy Collection Care Program Grant.

18.01.2022 UPATE: We have made the decision at this stage to remain closed to the public until the end of the year. 16.01.2022 Busy morning at the Nambour Museum, Creative Kitchens installed a new storage/display cabinet in the Remembrance Room (thanks to a Federal Government grant from Veterans' Affairs) and AJ Steel trial fitted the new hand rails at the front entrance (thanks to a grant from Sunshine Coast Council). The hand rails will now be finished off back at the workshop and sent off to be galvanised. Nambour Museum appreciates the grants received which allows us to support our local Nambour businesses.

13.01.2022 Our doors may be closed for now, but we are still finding ways to keep the history accessible! This is in lieu of our planned commemorative event tomorrow for ANZAC day. We wish you all good health! https://issuu.com/jbm.marketi/docs/n_dhm_anzac_day_2020__1_

13.01.2022 Plenty of action at the Nambour Museum all this week thanks to a grant from the Queensland Government's Gambling Community Benefit Fund. Much more air conditioning and lots of solar panels

12.01.2022 Come and see us at the 2020 Ginger Flower and Food Festival at the Ginger Factory (Friday 17th January until Sunday 19th). We’ll be joining an impressive line-up of foodie and gardening presenters, sharing their passion, knowledge and experience at this iconic festival. Find us in History Hall opposite the train station chatting about our friend Moreton ... "Now over 100 years old, Moreton was a sugar cane train working at the Moreton Sugar Mill in Nambour, and now spends his days taking people on a tour of the Ginger Factory grounds." Hope to see you there!

11.01.2022 The Tower bridge replica in our newly revamped Match craft room, took Ken Underhill 1500 hours to complete. He used 31000 matches and 82 feet of balsa trim.

10.01.2022 Just one of our vintage radios we have on display at the museum.

10.01.2022 A good turn up for our museum Christmas party today at the RSL. No cooking or cleaning up afterward and lovely air conditioning.

10.01.2022 Eily Rowen and friends called at the museum today to present a quilt that Eily had made to honour members of the 2/15th Battalion and the Rats of Tobruk. Eily's father was a member of the battalion and was killed in Tobruk. The quilt will find a home in the museum's Remembrance Room which is currently being revamped with the aid of a grant from Veterans' Affairs.

10.01.2022 Plenty of action today at the Nambour Museum and at the new Tram Shed. Diesel loco 'Petrie' was moved from the museum after six and a half years of care and maintenance at the museum to the Tram Shed. While the crane was at the museum former Moreton Mill rail car ' The Flyer' was craned into place onto the museum's tracks. 'The Flyer' is the museum's next loco restoration project. A couple of 'aerial' shots from the crane of the museum, tram shed and the old track down Mill and Howard Streets.

09.01.2022 The Matchcraft display was installed in its new location today ready for the museum's reopening on November 7th.

09.01.2022 Who can tell us what this item is called and used for?

09.01.2022 Saturday the 19th is our last opening day of the year. Bring the kids along for a photo on the Santa train. Opening hours 10am until 3pm.

09.01.2022 The new hand rails have been installed this week at the Nambour Museum. A big improvement for wheel chair access and general safety, thanks to a grant from Sunshine Coast Council. Next phase is an awning over the front door.

08.01.2022 Virus or not, our President Clive Plater is not one to waste an opportunity to serve the Museum! Another big concrete pour on next to the Nambour Museum today so we got some prearranged 'left over' concrete for a couple of little jobs at the museum. Thanks to the builders of the new Hungry Jacks for the concrete and to Peter Clark from the Tram Shed for giving Clive a hand at the museum.

08.01.2022 A couple of early Sugar Festival photos of 'Coolum' courtesey of Museum President Clive Plater.

05.01.2022 Today's activities at the museum included new concrete to solve a water ponding issue and some lighting to the front entrance.

05.01.2022 It is with extreme sadness that I share the news of the passing of longtime Nambour Museum supporter and 'ambassador', Gordon Wallace. Gordon was the former president of both the Rats of Tobruk Association (Qld Branch) and the 2/15th Battalion Remembrance Club. Gordon attended and officiated at several functions at Nambour Museum over the years. Gordon was 98 and one of the very few remaining 'Rats of Tobruk' veterans. - Clive Plater, President

05.01.2022 6 am start at the museum this morning, pumped and finished 4 cubic metres of concrete to 2 slabs and several smaller areas.

05.01.2022 We do not normally open on ANZAC Day, but as the parade and public services have been cancelled this year, we will be OPEN from 1pm to 4pm featuring our military displays and Remembrance Room honouring some of our local heroes who made the supreme sacrifice. This is, of course, subject to our being able to reopen on Saturday 18th of April as planned. Updates on our reopening and ANZAC Day will be posted here....
