25.01.2022 Congratulations to our friends at the Adelaide Holocaust Museum & Steiner Education Centre for this wonderful news. The State and Federal Governments have announced a commitment of $2.5m to broaden the museum's reach, ensuring South Australian students and public will be able to visit and learn from the stories shared in this important space. The History Trust of SA is proud to have supported AHMSEC with curatorial expertise and a Museums Incubator Grant in preparing for their opening in November. We look forward to continuing a fruitful relationship with the AHMSEC team in the future.

20.01.2022 How are you going to spend your time in lockdown? We want to share this artwork with you as it creatively embodies the COVID-19 guidelines and reminds us how we can stay safe. The artwork was a collaborative work produced by Bedford Day Options clients earlier this year as part of their Isolation Appreciation exhibition. The white vertical rows represent the rules the SA government created to keep us all safe. The horizontal weaving represents the clients abiding by the rul...es, or weaving in and out of the rules, by social distancing, having good hand hygiene, avoiding public areas, doing our part to keep ourselves safe and healthy, and weaving back together when safe to do so. The History Trust acquired this artwork for the project, History in the Making: Collecting South Australia during COVID-19. Follow the link below for more information and how you can help us document everyday life during the current lockdown. Artwork: Weaving away; artists involved: Jade Parfitt, Aaron Dennis, Malcom Parfitt, Lexia Smart, Kay Marks and Ryan Crowhurst. #SAatHome https://history.sa.gov.au/covid19-collecting/

Our first Poetry Takeover was planned for May's South Australia's History Festival, which we were able to quickly adapt and take online, we delivered education webinars for teachers highlighting collections and stories held across our four Museums, and we were able to s...hift a significant amount of resources online. All things considered, it was a fairly successful year! Read more about our 2020 education wrap here

15.01.2022 Today not only falls in the middle of NAIDOC week, it's also Remembrance Day. A good time to visit the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander War Memorial. Thousands of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander servicemen and women have served in Australia’s defence forces. While they have been present at every conflict and almost every peacekeeping mission from the Boer War to the present, it is difficult to accurately determine how many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peo...ple have served. Policy varied over time, but at some points Aboriginal people were discouraged or prohibited from enlisting. This did not stop people enlisting; but did prompt people to remain silent about their cultural heritage. 13.01.2022 This moustache has a concise, business-chic vibe that, much like the man sporting it, seems to say, I don't have time for your nonsense. We call it, the Stern Worm. #movember is almost at a close, how are your 'staches going? Is yours more of a Stern Worm, a Furry Walrus or something in between?
