25.01.2022 Vulcanised Sponge Rubber new addition to our Archival Product range. These sponges, originally developed for clean-up in fire restoration, can be used to remove surface dirt from a variety of surfaces including cloth, painted metal and wood. Beautifully cleans embroidery stumpwork, canvas work, gold work, and others. Conservators use the sponges for dry cleaning of books and paper, particularly for cleaning dust and mould. Cost per sponge $20. Dimensions 20 cm x 7 cm x 4 ...cm. Pictured is a tray cloth from our collection, embroidered with over 240 signatures. It was made in 1903 by Dora Tucker, whose father came to WA as the first Town Clerk of Coolgardie. Museum reference MA2001.44

09.01.2022 Member Dorothy Erickson has been honoured by being inducted into the Design Institute of Australia Hall of Fame. This tribute recognises Dorothys lifelong work as a jeweller, curator and design historian. We are indeed fortunate at the Society to have such an expert on hand to advise us on various items in the collection and speak to members on interesting topics where her knowledge is great.
