10.01.2022 The biggest problem with CCTV is that people use it more for a deterrent in the hope that with any luck, the crooks will see the cameras and move on to someone else, and subsequently they buy the cheaper system. Don't be miss lead by cheaper cameras or the salespersons trying to close the deal. As you will get what you pay for. Analogue systems (including digital video recorders) are out dated and have been superseded by HD IP and HD-SDI systems, that record in true hi defin...ition 1080p and provide a much clearer and far superior image. Not only giving you a chance to see what people are doing but also giving you more chance of actually identifying them. Coupled with proper day/night cameras for those darker areas and you would have your self a bullet proof surveillance system. HD CCTV coupled with a good quality alarm system is about as much as you can do, short of a 24hr guard! I must agree with Scott though if they want to get in they will. I think that for CCTV to be practical it must provide usable footage as well as being a visible deterrent. 02.01.2022 Here we have a complete central audio visual distribution set up. We are distributing 2 x Foxtel boxes 1 x AppleTV and a Pioneer BluRay player to 4 TVs in full High Definition via a Leaf 4x4 HDBase-T Matrix switch. Completely controlled Wirelessly using iPad minis with a Control4 HC 250. We also have 6 independent Music zones using Sonos. Of course there is also a complete GigaBit data network. All tidied away in a completely ventilated cabinet centrally located within the home.
