25.01.2022 If youve ever wanted to go to Desert Mob, heres your chance - its gone virtual this year!

25.01.2022 While making a stand today isn't possible for everyone, please consider the ways you can contribute outside of being physically present at the rallies across Australia. If you are able to, consider ways you can donate, share what is happening with your community, have tough conversations and continue to keep the energy we have seen over the last week. #blacklivesmatter #aboriginallivesmatter #warumpiband #commonground

24.01.2022 Here's a bit of Easter trivia for you! Did you know the word 'Bilby' is derived from the Ularoi/Yuwaalayaay language name Bilba? It means 'long-nosed rat'. Th...ere are at least another twenty names used across Australia for this furry little creature. Let's celebrate and preserve our Indigenous languages. #livinglanguages First Languages Australia See more

23.01.2022 After a COVID-19 delay, we’re finally nearing the end of our Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Technology for Development project in the Solomon Islands. We couldn’t have done it without Samantha Kies-Ryan, Ender Rence and Brian Mangi. We hope this is the start of something much bigger to introduce the digital economy to the Solomon Islands. #digitalinclusion #tech4dev #pacific #solomonislands #mobilemax

23.01.2022 Amazing colours to brighten a Winters day!

23.01.2022 Good morning, how stunning is this photo! The beauty and power of Sydney Harbour with two First Nations women proudly flying their flag.

21.01.2022 We were pleased to be able to distribute these Coronavirus resources translated into Wik to the Hitnet digital Hub at Aurukun Primary Health Care Centre this week. So important to be able to provide information in local language. These came via our partnership with Apunipima Cape York Health Council

21.01.2022 Check out 'Break it Down' music videos and stories breaking down shame and promoting mental well-being and positive social change from five communities in North Queensland. We're very proud to have worked with Northern Queensland PHN to distribute these community produced videos to our 15 Hitnet Hubs across North Queensland and also to mobile App. Desert Pea Media did wonderful work with Kuranda, Lockhart River, Bowen, Thursday Island and Palm Island to produce these powerful stories and music videos. Thanks also to Matty from Bumma Bippera Media 987fm for doing the great voice over. A true collaboration!

20.01.2022 Lets not forget the ongoing suffering of our First Nations people.

20.01.2022 A great way to explain it... #blacklivesmatter

19.01.2022 Thanks for your kind words. It means a lot during these tough times x

18.01.2022 So wonderful to see this finally happening, and First Nations designers getting the long overdue recognition.

18.01.2022 Wonderful story about the resilience of our native grasses and Bruce Pascoe’s social enterprise ‘Black Duck’

18.01.2022 Cairns Indigenous Art Fair (CIAF) has gone virtual this year. Fantastic opportunity to explore the beautiful, rich culture of this region from afar (and from iso!). A special treat!

17.01.2022 Our multi-talented board member Nickeema Williams with her latest exhibition created while in isolation.

16.01.2022 Wonderful, uplifting movie. Highly recommend!

16.01.2022 Love Briggs‘ philosophy Focus on what you can do rather than what you can’t. I can’t go to the Movies right now but I CAN be on the cover of GQ Australia‘!

15.01.2022 Tune in tonight on NITV at 7pm.

15.01.2022 Some residents put together an information sheet and they translated that into 10 written and five oral languages within 24 hours and distributed it among their networks in order to help get government messaging across, Lemoh said. Ive been involved in public health projects like this and if the government had to do this on their own, it would have taken them at least six months to get that kind of translation work done. Great to see some positive news stories from a different perspective. Well done The Guardian

14.01.2022 What a great opportunity with this much needed resource... The learning kit is mapped to the primary school curriculum and there is one tailored for schools/teachers that includes lesson plans and activities. These resources have been co-designed by First Nations and non-Indigenous teachers

14.01.2022 We participated in the Pacific Connect Virtual Dialogue | Storytelling & Digital Media today. One of the presentations was on this beautiful short film, called A Woman's Calling. Showing the developing relationship between women in Doomadgee in NW QLD and a village in Papua New Guinea, providing hand-sewn sanitary products and soap (Moon sick care bags). https://vimeo.com/336740719/1c6008f6ca

14.01.2022 A significant day in our history. Please read this well written piece to learn more.

13.01.2022 Today is International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples to raise awareness and protect the rights of the world's Indigenous population. We are so fortunate to have a vibrant, rich Indigenous community in our country. Take the time to listen and learn from them.

13.01.2022 One of our Hitnet Hub sites in the Latrobe Vally has shut down due to COVID-19 but that hasnt stopped them from creatively delivering their programs online. Great work Latrobe Youth Space

12.01.2022 Love this photo and the Woorie crew!

12.01.2022 Great to see such clear messaging from our friends in the Solomon Islands around #COVID-19, including some important cultural perspectives.

12.01.2022 We’re so fortunate to have Ender Rence working on our project in the Solomon Islands. Here she is in action conducting baseline evaluation before we install our digital hub ‘Mobile Tekelea’ at Solomon Islands National University (SINU). All part of connecting people to the digital world.

11.01.2022 Our wonderful Solomon Islands Project may have been delayed due to COVID-19 but we are very fortunate to have the skills of Ender Rence on the ground to complete the essential community engagement work. Here she is with the film crew capturing the beautiful cultural stories from Barana Community Nature Park that will be featured on the Hitnet Mobile Tutungu soon to be installed at the visitors information centre. #tech4dev #digitalinclusion #barana #hitnethub

11.01.2022 So wonderful to connect with Nai-Beguta Agama Aboriginal Corporation today. A small community organisation for local women and children. They run the child care and after school care in New Mapoon, and they are producing this incredible video content. Check out their Facebook page - they're producing a new community story each week! We've just installed a Hitnet Hub at their nearby New Mapoon Primary Health Care Clinic. This has been an amazing effort to get this Hub installe...d and online in a very remote location. We're now able to update with all the latest Coronavirus information and distribute some of these cultural stories via their My Place Channel. New Mapoon is in the Northern Penninsula Area on the tip of Cape York Penninsula. At the 2011 census, New Mapoon had a population of 289 people with 269 identifying as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander. We all need to know about these communities and the amazing culture that they are capturing and sharing!

09.01.2022 The COVID-19 crisis has highlighted the reality of the 'digital divide' in Australia. Check out what these dedicated teachers are doing in #Wilcannia to overcome lack of internet access for their students. #digitaldivide

09.01.2022 NDIS ACCESS FOR THE BUSH A new app provides NDIS information tailored to residents living with a disability in remote communities. 06.01.2022 In My Blood it Runs is now up on @abctv iview - an observational documentary told from the perspective of a 10-year-old Aboriginal boy in Alice Springs, Austral...ia, struggling to maintain a connection to language, culture and identity while navigating the western education system. This doco tells an important story that has sparked many important conversations across Australia about how our shared history must be told to create a future that better teaches the perspectives and experiences of First Nations people. @niyec_mob, in collaboration with @inmyblooditruns and @be.collectiveculture are kicking off the Learn our Truth Campaign, calling on all Australians to #learnourtruth both in classrooms and communities across Australia. Watch the movie with your friends and family, and swipe through this post for a series of questions to help direct discussion with your family and friends.
