25.01.2022 Inside this old bee suit is our seven year old grandson who is helping Jeff look for the Queen. Most people assume we only farm Australian native bees but in fact we have quite a few honeybee hives as well. At this time of year we're kept super busy making up nucleus hives, harvesting honey & searching for Queens!

25.01.2022 Glad we decided to manufacture the #V9 native bee box on the #SunshineCoast at Ozzi Kleen Water & Waste Water #Qld #AustralianMade

24.01.2022 This building is about to be renovated. We were able to relocate this crew of native bees tonight. We encourage people to leave bees where you find them unless they are under threat! #aussiebattlers #nativebees #beehappy

23.01.2022 #3D printed native honey display boxes. Busy weekend printing #HiveHaven Australian Native Honey display units. Each unit takes a whopping 31hr 18min to print! In true 'start-up' fashion, Jeff taught himself how to draw plans & has spent many a night loading philament & fixing the printers. ... We use PLA (Polylactide) that is derived from any sugar, such as corn starch, cassava, sugar cane, or sugar beet. Its a compostable bioplastic. We #love the creative flexibility it provides. #3Dprinting #HiveHaven #StartupChallenge #NativeHoney

21.01.2022 Wishing everyone a very happy & safe Easter 2021. After two years of extreme drought conditions - HiveHaven has a lot to 'bee' thankful for. Awesome to finally meet in the 'real person' #elbowshake #covidsafe #beehappy

15.01.2022 A 'top shelf' day at Kelvin Grove State College talking all things 'native bees & honey'. The Kuta (native bee) is the school mascot & holds deep cultural significance to the College Community. We visited the Jagum Barrambin Indigenous School Garden. The garden is full of endemic bush food species with information plaques to share the name & Indigenous use of each species - from medicines to fishing tools to bush tucker. We also spent time learning about the really cool ...products the students design & 3D print for 'real world' industry. A dynamic learning environment - thankyou Lewe, Jimmy, Daniel, Jodie, Shaun, Wendy, Lynn & Co!

13.01.2022 We're super excited to 'bee' selling our Australian native honey at the 'Good Food' fruit & veg shop - Steve Irwin Way, Glasshouse Mountains. Proprietor - Neil Federer, with his team (Katrina & Kaye) sell a massive range of organic & conventional produce. We love Neil's business ethos. - the majority of 'Good Food' produce is sourced from 70 local farmers. If your passing, please call in & say hello... our native honey is on the counter. ... Native bee honey is a rare & delicate product. It has a distinct flavour, texture, and is high in antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. Ann is partial to the simple and beneficial blend of warm water, a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and a dash of native honey. Jeff is partial to a drizzle of native honey on good quality vanilla ice-cream. What's your favourite combo??? 13.01.2022 Australia Zoo Wildlife Warriors Hospital. Beerwah. Excited to report we've successfully budded a 'daughter' colony. Our hives come with a budding kit that enables you to attach an empty box to a full 'mother' hive. This is also called the eduction method.

12.01.2022 Our native bees are loving the 'Glasshouse Country Retirement Village' Agapanthus.

11.01.2022 Despite the dry weather our pollinator mix is keeping both our natives & honey bees happy for now. Doing a rain dance!

10.01.2022 #Leave some for the #bees! Our stingless native bees are loving the rocket flowers. We're often asked 'what can we plant in our garden to attract native bees?' Rocket is a top shelf choice. Easy to grow & great for pots! #Google tells us that rocket leaves are bursting with anti-oxidants, vitamins, and minerals - read more https://www.nutrition-and-you.com/arugula.html

08.01.2022 Great to catch up with Regional Development Australia Sunshine Coast CEO Paul Fisher & Food Agribusiness Network FAN General Manager Emma Greenhatch at The Ginger Factory today. :) A ‘top shelf’ opportunity to explain ‘why’ we designed the Hive Haven V9 native bee box the way we did & ‘why’ in 2018 we made the decision to manufacture the hives at Ozzi Kleen Water & Waste Water on the Sunshine Coast. We chatted about native bees who are a #trueblue Aussie' hero when it comes... to pollination! #NativeBees #PollinationWarriors #SunshineCoast

05.01.2022 Beerburrum was certainly buzzing today with a much welcomed visit from Queensland Chief Entrepreneur Leanne Kemp & Craig O'Kane. Special thanks to Glasshouse Country Chamber of Commerce Inc. President Jenny Broderick, Judy Tomlinson from Glasshouse Country Tours & Celebrate Glasshouse Country & Beerburrum Local Heather Cardaci for your support. 04.01.2022 Today is National Agricultural Day! We usually champion the Australian native bee. This bee is geographically confined to the warmer regions of Australia, so today we've taken a 'national' approach, with a focus on the introduced European honey bee (Apis mellifera) which is farmed in all parts of Australia. At Hive Haven we farm both! ... Depending on which report you read the bee industry has an estimated GVP of $80 million. In addition, the annual benefit of pollination is estimated to range from A$4 to $6 billion. A small industry but one that underpins the majority! At HiveHaven we challenge you, when next you visit a regional farm. an inner city food enterprise or anything in-between... please ask the land keeper if they have a pollinator friendly corridor. Start the conversation! :)

03.01.2022 Spring is a SUPER busy time of the year for us. We've been checking all our native bee hives. The HiveHaven V9 native bee box has four air-flow vents including the entrance. Leading into summer we inspect the vents to make sure they have not been blocked off during winter. #springcleaning #hivevents #neighbors

03.01.2022 We've added mustard seed to our 'Betty Bee' Pollinator Mix. Mustard leaves are full of calcium & magnesium plus the seeds can be ground to make your very own mustard.

02.01.2022 Great to catch up with Karen from Forest Heart Nursery today! We're really happy to have successfully budded a 'daughter' colony of Australian native bees. Yeh!!! You may remember in November last year we worked with Karen & Spencer to set up a 'budding/eduction' hive on site. We posted a 7 step guide to budding/education to create a new 'daughter' colony https://www.facebook.com/HiveHavenCo/posts/2553769131571943 Very happy to report that both mother & daughter have survived & thrived through a cold #Maleny winter. This 'daughter' colony is happy & healthy & ready to find a new home!

01.01.2022 Awesome to have Glasshouse Country Tours visit our bees today at the Beerburrum Bee Garden.
