25.01.2022 Great opportunity to share your thoughts for improvement: Have you, a family member or significant other had a patient experience at Alfred Health during the pandemic ? Alfred Health's Patient Experience Survey (PES) now includes five extra questions to help us understand our patients experience during the pandemic.... Our volunteers are unable to conduct the survey with patients, carers or family members at present, so we would like to encourage our patients, carers and family members to complete a survey themselves. If you would like to tell us about your experience during the pandemic click this link: alfredhealth.org.au/survey
22.01.2022 Meet Nic Barnes. Nic grew up with Cystic Fibrosis and in July 2017 while holidaying with her husband Ian, her life changed forever. During a holiday to Port Douglas, one day they were walking an hour on the beach, the next they were bed ridden and unable to walk 10m. After rushing to the Alfred, Nic and Ian were diagnosed with Influenza A. Luckily for Ian he was fit and otherwise healthy, so after a couple of weeks he bounced back to full health. For Nic however, it was a di...fferent story. Nic has generously shared her transplant story in the latest edition of the Circulator. Over the next few years Nic had a double lung transplant, learnt to walk again after being bed-bound for a long time, and in underwent a kidney transplant. Did we mention Ian donated his kidney for the transplant?! Right through her journey Nic was supported by Ian, her family and friends and the amazing team at the Alfred and you can read all about it in the 100th edition of the Circulator. https://www.hlttv.org.au/newsle/quarter-2-2020-issue-no-100 Thanks for sharing your story Nic

09.01.2022 We're delighted to share the Spring edition of the HLTTV’s Circulator with you. It’s wonderful to feel some hope after some very long, hard months here in Melbourne, and this edition of the Circulator features many stories of hope, determination and resilience from those on the transplant journey. We were particularly moved by the love, faith and hope shared by Michelle Richter in ‘A mother’s love’. Just beautiful.... Other highlights include: - A feature on the Ventricular Assist Device program at the Alfred - Stories written and shared by our generous readers - A celebration of long-term transplant anniversaries - A spotlight on physical and mental health with stories on osteoporosis, skin care and advice on building and maintaining your resilience after an organ transplant - And so much more. You can download the full edition here https://www.hlttv.org.au/newsle/quarter-3-2020-issue-no-101

07.01.2022 The HLTTV AGM is coming up in Tuesday 11 November, and it would be wonderful to have a few more ‘hands on deck.' We’d love to have a few more ordinary committee members join the team, particularly if you’re interested in providing peer support. All positions become available at the AGM, so if you fancy yourself as President, or even better, Vice-President get in touch with our brilliant Secretary, Maarit ([email protected]).... This year's meeting will be held online via Zoom, so you can join from the convenience of your home office or comfort of your couch. 2021 is going to be a big year!
