24.01.2022 Replenishment At Sea for liquids, otherwise known as a RAS(L) is one of our favourite wholeship evolutions. Today we entertained our good friends on HMAS Sirius with a Movies Themed playlist. Play along at home and see if you can name the movies these songs are from! 15.01.2022 Even as Hobart makes her way through our extended maintenance period in these COVID-19 times, our ship still commemorates ANZAC day. Whilst we won't get to gather on this day, we remember and honour the service of the ones that have come before us and the sacrifices our friends and family make each day. Today, the threat of COVID-19 is amongst us, and we honour those who continue to fight on the front lines, regardless of what uniform they wear. Please join us Ghost Riders a...s a community on your driveways, gardens and balconies to greet the dawn and honour the ANZACs and heroes all alike. #standatdawn Lest we forget. #standatdawn #greenghost #ddg39 #growwithstrength #ghostriders

05.01.2022 Over the past years, HMAS Hobart has been the grateful beneficiary of the generous work of the women and men of Aussie Hero Quilts (and Laundry Bags), with many members of ship's company receiving hand-made quilts or laundry bags. The catering department on board produces a surprising amount of laundry, with tea-towels and aprons needing to be washed daily. So our chefs were very chuffed when they opened the surprise package from Jan-maree Ball to find two oversized, heavy...-duty, stylish (and appropriately cheeky) laundry bags to help manage the daily washing. Thank you Jan-maree and AHQ for such a thoughtful and practical gift!! Your dedication and commitment to service inspires us to continue to #growwithstrength. #washingpilegrowswithstrength #cleanghostridingchefs #yeschef

04.01.2022 Not even the maintenance period could stop us from celebrating IDAHOBIT Day 2020 with cupcakes of every shape and colour. Always one step closer to a more inclusive, more diverse Navy! #greenghost #growwithstrength #glowwithstrength #diversity #ddg39 #rainbowship #idahobit2020 #pride

04.01.2022 Recently, on a perfect afternoon in Eden, HMAS Hobart held a presentation ceremony on the flight deck to recognise a significant number of honours, awards, and milestones. As well as recognising some outstanding achievements (including the 2019 Queen's Gold Medalist for the RAN), a degree of subterfuge and secrecy was required to arrange the presentation of awards to both the Commanding Officer, and the Command Warrant Officer, recognising 25 years' service each. What a t...alented and dedicated crew - congratulations to all! Here's the full list of presentations for the day: CPOCSM Burke - US Navy and Maritime Corps Commendation Medal SBLT Whitfield - CN's Congratulatory Letter - Queen's Gold Medal ABCIS Horn - 2018 Lethbridge cup LSMT Rheinberger - Humanitarian Overseas Service Medal LEUT Curtis - Humanitarian Overseas Service Medal ABCIS Northey - Australian Operational Service Medal (Greater Middle East Operation) ABMT Bunnett - Australian Operational Service Medal (Border Protection) CPOATV McCormack - First Clasp to Defence Long Service Medal CPOB Jenkins - First Clasp to Defence Long Service Medal LEUT Verheul - Defence Long Service Medal ABML-SC Cook - Australian Defence Medal ABMT Thompson - Australian Defence Medal ABET Vit - Australian Defence Medal ABMED Consedine - Australian Defence Medal LSNPC Connell - Australian Defence Medal ABMT Borrillo - Australian Defence Medal ABBM Cheeseman - Australian Defence Medal ABET Douglas - Australian Defence Medal ABBM Bird - Australian Defence Medal ABMT Reeves - Promotion to Leading Seaman WO Power - Second Clasp to Defence Long Service Medal CMDR Gaskin - Second Clasp to Defence Long Service Medal This is how we continue to #growwithstrength Group photo credit: LSCIS Candice Beech
