24.01.2022 A great day out visiting 4 sheds and sharing lunch, followed by bike talk, drinks, BBQ and breakfast hosted at Pete's place. Thanks to Gladstone Branch for hosting this event; and especially to Allan, Bruce, Brian, Darryl, and Pete for showing us their sheds. Some great bikes and clever projects.
23.01.2022 This 1913 Thor Model SR Boardtrack racer on display at Dale’s WTT is the only known twin-cylinder example of a Thor racing machine. It features original paint and is run regularly for visitors. The engine is 61 cubic inches and is capable of speeds in excess of 80 mph.
22.01.2022 Beautiful weather helped us enjoy this annual ride in support of the Salvo's Christmas Appeal. A great rollup of riders on a variety of bikes attended, and the Salvo's were very happy to receive our gifts and donations. Thanks to Pete for organising the food supplies, our host Mark and staff at the Pine Beach Hotel, and Emu Park Lions Club for cooking the snags. Feel free to share your photos of this event with us.
16.01.2022 BMW had enjoyed a great deal of success with single-cylinder models before World War II, and there was certainly a market for these small 250cc machines. Though... not purveyors of great power, they were inexpensive and offered excellent everyday practicality. The R 24 generated 12 hp at 5,600 rpm, enough to give it a top speed knocking on the door of 100 km/h (62 mph). The four-speed gearbox was new; previously, three gears had to suffice. Wheel guidance at the front was handled by a modern telescopic fork, while the rear wheel was unsprung to keep costs down. The bike was, of course, painted in black and finished with trademark white pinstripes. It had a price tag of 1,750 deutschmarks a considerable sum of money for the average employee (200 300 deutschmarks was a normal monthly wage at the time), but far less than the cost of a car. It is also worth remembering that, due to the ravages of the war, the second-hand market was virtually non-existent. The R 24 was superseded by the R 25 in 1950. The principal distinguishing feature of the new model (besides a series of relatively minor modifications) was its rear suspension. 12,020 units of the R 24 were built, as it paved the way for Germany’s economic miracle. The resultant desire for greater mobility featured motorcycles front and centre. Today, the simple and robust style of the R 24 is reminiscent of an era that symbolised a new dawn and a boldness of intent since unmatched. See more
14.01.2022 Indian began producing 4-Cylinder machines after they purchased the Ace Company in the late 1920s. The 1936 "Upside-Down" Four was known as the most powerful of Indians 4-Cylinder models. This example has been at WTT for over 2 decades. Happy Thanksgiving

09.01.2022 1908 Apache The Apache motorcycle was produced in very limited quantities by the Brown & Beck Company in Denver, CO. The 1908 model was powered by the then-popular single-cylinder Thor engine which produced 3hp and developed enough power to easily attain 30mph.
