23.01.2022 Franko is pumping!

23.01.2022 Made it down for the first day of the taste today. Crowds started getting crazy around lunchtime despite the drizzly day. All the usual suspects are present along with a few newcomers. I tried two of those - Indonesian martabak, & a mushroom taco from Sons of Baja. Both were delicious & will hopefully get their systems in place after a busy first day. It's all about being organised and getting the food out quickly when you're getting slammed & newcomers sometimes get caught out by the crowds. Plenty of nice dishes to be eaten and the berries I tried were fantastic. Oh, and there were a few yachts about too

22.01.2022 Just wanted to mention a newish spot that has become a personal favourite. The Chennai Bismi Kitchen in central Liverpool St specialises in Dosa & other Indian street food snacks & everything I've tried is cheap, fresh & tasty. Try ordering a standard masala dosa, a samosa chaat or a sambhar vada & be pleasantly surprised. Run by a really nice couple that started with the street food stall at Salamanca that I've mentioned previously. No tandoor but plenty of more familiar curries available too but I'm loving the South Indian stuff & the delicious street food.

17.01.2022 Last chance until October folks. Eat some superb BBQ octopus, have a free shot of ouzo & take home a pack for the freezer. It's the best. https://www.facebook.com/farmgatemarket/posts/1750573544959204

15.01.2022 Kicking off proceedings Moonah Taste of the World Festival with some Indian street food from my good friends at Soup Stop

14.01.2022 Preparations are at fever pitch for today's Moonah Taste of the World Festival so head on down, stuff your face & soak up some culture.

13.01.2022 From the fab people who bring us Farm Gate Market, now we have the truly wonderful Street Eats Franko. It was the first opportunity to visit and it was just brilliant. On a sparkling, warm summers night there was no better place to be. Franklin Square is the perfect setting and after loading up from the great variety of food stalls, you can kick back on the lawn which form a natural amphitheatre and listen to some cool music & enjoy a drink. It's well organised, family-friendly and, like Farm Gate Market, just a great asset to Hobart. Well done to all involved & I look forward to the special combined market next week.

13.01.2022 Food Finder hit Melbourne for the wonderful John Olsen exhibition & managed a quick stroll to the new South Wharf precinct (keep walking past Crown & Jeff's Shed) where there are a ton of new nosh spots to explore. On the recommendation of my highly trained daughter we went to Bangpop, a modern Thai which was spectacular. Exciting food in a fantastic setting.
