18.01.2022 NEWS ALERT Did Someone Say Puppies?! We are super excited to announce that The Happy Hound Initiative - Dog Training Hobart is recommencing Puppy Classes at Hobart Animal Hospital!!... These classes commence of an evening, between 6.30pm and 7.30pm. They are held within a controlled environment to establish basic training and fundamental socialization, but most importantly are so much FUN!. The classes are run over a 4 week period (1 lesson per week) and cost $130. Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic we are limiting 4 puppies per class, and are asking that only one person attend. However face time or zoom to include the rest of the family is more than welcome. Availability is limited, and due to the overwhelming response we will be running two classes for our first week back! 17.01.2022 IMPORTANT REMINDER It’s Christmas time again and we would like to remind dog owners not to feed your dog Christmas ham. Christmas ham and bones are a big... no no ! See why; The fat and salt content of the delicious Christmas ham, will wreak havoc of your dogs gastrointestinal system. Christmas ham is not the only culprit that can cause pets illness over the Christmas period. Many other things our pets may have access to over the festive season include; * Fruit cake * Chocolate * Grapes * Nuts These are all capable of causing serious and sometimes life threatening illness to our beloved furry friends. AHVEC highly advise owners that if their pet eats something they shouldn’t as above, to promptly seek veterinary attention. Happy Holidays #ahvec #afterhoursveterinarycentre #afterhoursvet #vetnurse #veterinarymedicine #veterinarian #tasmania #christmas #festiveseason #christmasham #dogsofinstagram #thingsnottoeat #emesis #staysafe

15.01.2022 There is only one thing cuter than puppies... And that’s puppies in a basket These cheeky guys came in to the clinic today for a visit with Dr. Mackie and let’s just say there were a lot of smiles and cuddles!

14.01.2022 Everyone meet Axel! He is a smoochy 2 year old kelpie who came to see Dr. Mackie for a sore leg. After taking some x- rays we found that he had broken his radius and ulna in his right front leg. OUCH! luckily Dr. Ward and Dr. Mackie were able to surgically repair his leg using a bone plate. We were happy to see him doing very well as his 1 week recheck and to get more cuddles with him.

05.01.2022 MEDICATION AND PRESCRIPTION UPDATE In light of the recent events regarding the Covid-19 pandemic we ask that new and existing clients please call ahead for medication and prescription diets. This allows us to ensure the food and medication is currently in stock (we can place food on hold until collection) and if unavailable allows us to order stock as required. It also minimises any unnecessary client/employee exposure. We are not currently limiting collection hours, however... between 12pm and 3pm weekdays is usually when human traffic is at minimum. Please note we can also do prepayment methods for all food orders/collection to limit time in the reception area. Please remember to be vigilant of other members of the community by practicing good hand hygeine and keeping a safe distance. Kind regards, Hobart and Channel Highway Animal Hospital
