19.01.2022 The road remained closed all day, with the quiet residential areas of pillinger drive and bracken lane once again turned into a carpark. Tow trucks were deployed to unblock the situation.

18.01.2022 Local bus operators would prefer to serve our base station than the summit, in today’s Talking Point:

18.01.2022 love this! A gorgeous little doco on how appropriate and synonymous cables cars have become for people’s connection to the land, in none other than the greenest country on Earth.

17.01.2022 A great initiative. We’ve been collecting rubbish ourselves up there for years and intend to improve litter management once operational.

13.01.2022 ...And there were so many protestors during the planning phase. Where are they now?

11.01.2022 Today the City of Hobart has released a plan for nearly 50km of new proposed mountain bike-focused trails on Mount Wellington. This plan is a result of extensiv...e, detailed planning by our team, which carefully considers the social, environmental and cultural values of a mountain that is held so dear to Tasmanian’s. We send a big thanks to the City of Hobart, the project advisory group and other stakeholders who have supported this significant project. A link to the summary and full report, along with feedback opportunity can be found via the link below: https://yoursay.hobartcity.com.au/riding-the-mountain

10.01.2022 We're pleased to lodge additional information to the City of Hobart today, which we believe strengthens our Development Application even further. 06.01.2022 Our proposal aims to alleviate such congestion and improve serenity for users around the mountain by providing a new, access road to the park that’s closer to the city. Funded by us and not taxpayers, our proposal provides car spaces and toilets in a convenient central location to walking and bike trails. (Oh and a cableway platform too )

05.01.2022 #ThrowbackThursday Do you remember the Post Master General Tower that stood atop kunanyi/Mt Wellington for 36 years? It was built in 1959, and brought national ...television to Tasmania for the first time! In this archive vision from 1997, it was demolished to be replaced by the 130 metre-tall concrete version we see on top of the mountain today.

05.01.2022 Road closed yesterday due to ‘heavy traffic congestion’. Not the first time this has happened in recent winters, but the first without tourists in the mix.

04.01.2022 The State Government will be introducing its Major Projects legislation soon. It will allow the Government to have complex projects that are usually approved or... denied by a local council to be assessed by an independent panel instead. Cable car opponents are worried it will allow the cable car to be developed without scrutiny by the Hobart City Council. The Government has said it won't be used for controversial projects, but it hasn't ruled out using the legislation to approve the cable car. What do you think?

02.01.2022 Please note: Wellington Park is now closed until further notice. This is in line with other Tasmanian state reserves and national parks to limit non- essential travel in a bid to slow the spread of COVID-19. Please consider our fellow Tasmanians by supporting the national effort to limit the spread of COVID-19: Stay home during this time.
