25.01.2022 Battery Point is Hobart’s most historic suburb. It used to be home to mariners working out of Hobart Town and is still a residential area nowadays, with many homes classified by the National Trust. Just a short walk from Salamanca Place and the waterfront, Battery Point retains all the character of a Cornish fishing village of the last century with restaurants, antique shops and several pubs. You can walk to Battery Point from Salamanca Place up Kelly’s Steps (1839). The step...s were originally cut into a cliff face that overlooked the wharves of Sullivans Cove. #historichobart #salamanca #batterypoint #makeyourselfathome #holidayherethisyear #hobartandbeyond

Hunter Island was the site of Hobart’s Old Wharf, where sailors had to wade across a shallow sandbar to reach Hobart’s shore. Today, there are art galleries, the university’s Art School, cafes, bars and more to explore.... #historichobart #makeyourselfathome #hobartandbeyond
