25.01.2022 For those who came to our opening night and are interested in learning how to dance Forro you have a chance this Saturday

24.01.2022 Did anyone find a dark blue and beige raincoat at the back of the theatre which was left there about last Wednesday night? It's owner would really like to get it back.

22.01.2022 Only 2 sleeps to go until our exciting Brazilian opening night and here's a program with the names of the films too. Hope to see you all on Friday!!!

18.01.2022 We have a very funny Peruvian comedy (free and with sub-titles) at 4:30 to start the last day of the festival. I can't find a trailer with subtitles but it gives you a good idea of what the movie is about.

18.01.2022 To finish the festival today at 6:20 we will show the award winning The Pope's Toilet from Uruguay. One reviewer said that it's 'a celebration of hope, humor and resilience among the humble and only secondarily a dig at media distortion and the disconnect between the Church and the poor.'

18.01.2022 Muito obrigado to all of you who came to our wonderful opening last night and to the volunteers who helped to make it such a fun event! We had about 180 attendees, Fyllipi who runs Brazil in Tassie sold out of his wonderful hot food and most of his yummy sweets, Nayellin Reyes Chicuellar entertained us before the movie with her wonderful traditional Mexican songs, Latin Spring did some fundraising to buy costumes for their dance group. Once we were inside the theatre, Elias... Solis and Erika Avellaneda Celis from the Latin American Cultural Association of Tasmania promoted their Latin Xmas Party, Peter Slipper spoke, Thiago De Oliveira Alves gave a welcome in Portuguese and introduced the Forro Dancers. Please share any photos and videos that you took here. Again a big thank you to everyone involved including Kamal Shahril from UTAS - warmest regards Jenny Forward See more

12.01.2022 At 7pm (after our 5pm movie) we will be showing the award winning Paraguayan movie The Heiresses - about 'late love and secret passion' to quote the Guardian.

11.01.2022 Sabores Latinos, Latinamerican Groceries is supporting the Colombian movie showing today at 4:30 and there will be a raffle of a sample of their products pictured below ¡Que sabroso! You can find out more about their products here or speak to Andrea Romero who will be there today https://www.facebook.com/saboreslatinosau/

10.01.2022 Due to COVID-19 the Latin American Film Festival will be online however it won’t be ready until about February 2021. The Peruvian Embassy have just updated us that SBS On Demand will show the movies but it is a lengthy process getting approvals. We hope you join us online in about February!!

09.01.2022 Here are all the screening times for those who've asked for them

08.01.2022 We're half way through our wonderful free film festival and tonight at 6pm we are showing this movie from Guatemala. This is the only trailer that I could find with sub-titles but I'm afraid that it isn't very good quality.

05.01.2022 Just a reminder that there is no need to register for any of the films in Hobart as we have a very large venue so please just come along and enjoy the wonderful selection of free Latin American movies. If you have any questions please phone 0400701902.

05.01.2022 Here's a subtitled trailer for tonight's movie which has won several awards and was voted as one of the top 20 Latin American films of 2017.

03.01.2022 Why not start your Friday night with a free Mexican movie at 6pm?

03.01.2022 Tomorrow our first movie at 5pm is this romantic-comedy from Panama set during carnival with a Romeo and Juliet-like story.

03.01.2022 Amigos and amigas we hope you're enjoying the festival so far! There will be a short dance display by a newly formed group called Latin Spring, which includes many Colombians, at 4:30 just before this movie today.

01.01.2022 Barbacoa Navidena - Xmas BBQ
