20.01.2022 We were so lucky to be trained this weekend by Ben Rivers, a former Hobart Playbacker, who has gone on to specialise in playback and psychodrama in communities impacted by conflict and trauma. He is co-director of the Arab School of Playback Theatre and founder of Dawar for Arts and Development, Cairo. Such a valuable skill set for us to learn and connect with

20.01.2022 We're thrilled to be performing together again. 19.01.2022 Presenting Emily! What a treasure she is Emily is conducting our first show this series (that means facilitating in Playback language) Not only is she an accomplished writer and teacher, Emily has travelled the globe last year with her young adventurous family to study playback and hear new stories from all over the world Emily did her best to be brave about doing playback via zoom, but truth be told, she got a little cranky and is much happier being back together in person Check out our website for details about our C19 series, first one is this Friday, 2 Oct, 7:30pm. Tix free, book now to reserve your seat! https://hobartplayback.org.au/event/

18.01.2022 We had our first face to face (but socially distanced) rehearsal last night, for the first time in 4 months! It was so great to be rehearsing again in person, and we were surprised to find that social distancing made us more creative in our use of stage space. When will we be holding public performances again? Well, watch this space...

18.01.2022 Due to small things like the pandemic ... we've had to find a new rehearsal space Look at how relaxed we are! It appears displacement has worked well for us. Double thumbs up for the Community Centre in South Hobart/nipaluna. Forced change is everywhere ... come explore this at our next FREE real life performance series wahoo! When: Fortnightly Fridays from 7.30pm Dates: October 2nd, 16th, 30th and November 13th Where: South Hobart Living Arts Centre Hall, 14 Wel...d St, Sth Hobart Bookings Essential! 15.01.2022 Everyone keeps saying "I can't believe how fast this year has gone" is that true for you? Or just a perception illusion? 15.01.2022 We get this question a lot - "so what actually IS Playback?" We're so glad you asked! We have a Conductor who talks directly with the audience to facilitate the show, 3 or 4 Actors, a Musician and the most important - YOU! The audience. Invitations are offered for audience members to share snippets of their lives (we call these moments or stories). The Actors and Musician then get moving to re-create these snippets using theater techniques including sound, movement and words. Sounds like magic? Almost, we rehearse fortnightly in different forms, but rely completely on impulse and improvisation on the night. It's not only fun but oh so gratifying to witness. We hope you can join us this FRIDAY 2nd Oct to check it out: https://hobartplayback.org.au/event/our-stories-of-covid-19/

10.01.2022 Miranda's music at our Senior's Week gig was magical As were the freely flowing stories recounted by the audience We could've stayed for many more hours listening and retelling their experiences of apple orchards, isolation, grief, mentoring and joy Thanks for having us Huon Valley Council Next week we're visiting Clarence City Council Hobart Playback are warm and ready!

09.01.2022 Presenting the many faces of Miranda! Boy do we love her! Clown Doctor by day, and Playbacker by night. She's our trusty Musician at this Friday's performance - she'll fill the space beautifully with her uke and percussion. Miranda’s deep into an honours degree of visual arts and yet feeling a stuck due to the lack of open borders. Sniffle. She found it quite weird" in lock down reflecting God is this my life?
