21.01.2022 I really wonder sometimes what the State Government has against rail. It has no interest in supporting light rail in Hobart. It has no interest in supporting th...e Transport Museum here in Glenorchy. It’s patently ridiculous that the State Government is doing everything in its power to shut this down. This is the sort of thing we should be celebrating and backing. See more

12.01.2022 It's such a shame that our Premier isn't interested in working with Prime minister Scott Morrison to provide a Light Rail service for our Hobart suburbs and bey...ond.. :( Prime mister Scott Morrison and Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews are working together on building a rail link to Tullamarine airport is something that's been talked about for over 60 years. And it's something that generations of travellers have dreamt about while stuck in freeway traffic. We've always known that airport rail needed to be as fast, as convenient and as affordable for Victorian families as possible. That's why today we announced that trains to the airport will run through the Metro Tunnel and we'll be providing $5 billion to get the project off the ground. That means if you live on the Pakenham or Cranbourne lines, you'll be able to go straight to the terminal no changes. And nearly everyone else will only have to change trains once - including those coming from regional Victoria. It will mean you can get to the city from Tullamarine in less than 30 minutes. Trains will depart every 10 minutes and drop travellers off exactly where they need to be whether you're here for work, travel or just coming home. But this project isn't just about building the best airport rail for Victoria. It'll create 8,000 local jobs too.

12.01.2022 A bridge for passenger rail and heritage rail please.

03.01.2022 Today, Nat Downton from Downton Property joined me to discuss the economic and social benefits of the northern suburbs passenger rail. The benefits of a passeng...er rail service are clear for the people of the northern suburbs and the greater Hobart area. It would be a catalyst for rezoning and construction of housing and business developments. It would also help ease Hobart’s traffic issues and provide better access to jobs and services like schools and healthcare. That’s why Labor has included the project in its COVID-19 Recovery Package, which is designed to build a better and fairer Tasmania and get people back into jobs.

03.01.2022 Well done Kristie Johnston & Andrew Wilkie MP - Independent Member for Clark.

03.01.2022 MEDIA ALERT 30th October 2020 Bridgewater Bridge: De-railed! 11am, Saturday 31 October Nielsen Esplanade Park, Bridgewater... Supporters of passenger rail in Hobart are urging State and Federal Governments to listen to the community, keep their promises and retain rail access to Bridgewater. Rail Action Group President Michael Hangan said In the lead up to the 2018 state election, recognising how supporting passenger rail would enhance their re-election chances, the State Government made the unequivocal commitment to retain and preserve the rail corridor to Bridgewater. Yet two years into their term they have done the complete opposite. They have actually removed it at Macquarie Point and are now planning on removing it at the Bridgewater Bridge! The latest Bridgewater Bridge design has no rail on it and that the old bridge will be removed. The Government have tried to claim that they are preserving rail access by keeping the air space available. Do they take the community for fools? Pigs might fly, but trains can’t fly over the proposed 300m air-gap! said Mr Hangan. On numerous occasions the Mayor of Brighton, Cr Foster, has stated it was critical that the bridge design catered for light rail (i) and the light rail must extend to Brighton (ii) . We call on the community, along with Mayor Foster and Mayor Shaw to speak up and let the Government know that they are not going to get away with tearing up this vital rail link. 02.01.2022 The TTMS has been providing incident-free train rides to thousands of people over the past 37 years and have most recently operated on $20 million insurance cov...erage, in addition to maintaining their strict rail safety accreditation. President of TTMS, Mr Rod Prince, said the recent changes required by the State Government will take the Museum’s insurance premiums from $3,500 to $98,500 a year. We are not seeking a cash handout, we simply ask Premier Peter Gutwein to reset the required insurance to a reasonable and equitable amount for our specific operation in accordance with his Party’s policy to support Tourism and Heritage Rail, Mr Prince said.
