17.01.2022 After a challenging year, where we were unable to hold most of our major tournaments, we’re really pleased to release the ARTA Calendar for 2021. This includes... all major Australian and overseas events and I’m pleased to say that we have major events literally beginning on the first day of 2021! We have also collaborated with overseas associations in aiming for a return to major international tournament play by mid-year, and we especially hope to see visiting top ten players at the Australian Open in Ballarat in August. Many thanks to Rob Jolly, Nick Rooke and Vince Scopelitti for their assistance in pulling this together. Alistair Curley, ARTA Chair of Tennis.

04.01.2022 Player Profile - September 2020 The latest of our player profiles Becca Lunnon Name: Rebecca (Becca) Lunnon... Playing Handicap: 34.6 Club: Hobart Real Tennis Club (@hobartrtc ) Why do you love Real Tennis? The frustration, the elation, the disappointment and everything in between as you wrestle more with your own head than you do with your opponent! What made you want to start playing? An invitation followed by that first hit where everything seemed so much more complex, but also more fun, than lawn tennis Favourite shot? The perfect giraffe Best win? Class III doubles club championship match. Playing with my partner Graham Flower off scratch against a pair that were lower handicapped than us. It was a test of communication and teamwork more than anything else (something that wasn't always easy when we were on court together) and the victory was all the more meaningful for it Toughest opponent? Can you get much tougher than Claire Fahey ??? Thing about your game you would most like to improve? Not swinging so much - it's all in my head When not playing Real Tennis what are you most likely to be doing? Bushwalking, gardening or working as a paramedic Advice would you give someone starting Real Tennis? Be gentle and patient with yourself! Best coaching tip you have received? Intention counts for nothing against physics - it does not matter what you want the ball to do (it doesn't know, after all), it's all about what you do with the racket at the point of contact Most satisfying winner Grille or Winning Gallery? Winning gallery every time!! If you invented a new serve what would you call it? The Eagle - I have a soft spot for wedge-tailed eagles Thanks to Becca for being our latest player featured - If you would like to be in one of our future player profiles then let us know #betterrealtennis #playerprofile #tennislife #tennisplayer #hobartrealtennisclub #bushwalking #giraffe #eagle #realtennis #courttennis
